ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
The Council would like to acknowledge David Brown, Ben Thuriaux and Richard Grainger of Arthur D. Little,
Consultants to Forfás, for their work in facilitating the development of this National Code of Practice for Management
and Commercialisation of Intellectual Property from Public-Private Collaborative Research.
The interest and commitment shown by all stakeholders to the process has made the Code what it is. The Council
wishes to thanks all stakeholders for the extremely valuable inputs they provided, for their written submissions and
for their participation in the five stakeholder meetings held.
The close co-operation by several funding agencies was particularly helpful to the work of the Task Force. The
Funding Agencies Enterprise Ireland, Higher Education Authority, Health Research Board, IDA Ireland, IRCSET and
Science Foundation Ireland, under the Chairmanship of Mr Feargal Ó Móráin, made a very significant contribution to
the development of the Code. These agencies all support the use of good, common and professional practices in the
commercialisation of Intellectual Property.
The contribution of international reviewers Denis Dambois of the European Commission and Andrew Dearing of
the European Association of Industrial Research Managers is gratefully acknowledged. The Council also acknowledges
the work of BCM Hanby Wallace in carrying out the legal review of the Code and the assistance of Tara McMahon in
this regard.
This Code builds on the work of the ICSTI Task Force that developed the National Code of Practice for Managing IP
from Publicly-funded Research, (April 2004), and the Council would like to acknowledge this work.
