HARDWARE & SOFTWARE
Three new desktop computers and a laptop were
purchased for staff to replace old (and out-of-warranty)
computers. Additional licenses for Dreamweaver
and Adobe Acrobat were also purchased.
NETWORK & WEB
A number of new Filemaker databases were created to
track scholar and permanent residency applications. All
of our fi lemaker databases were moved to Filemaker 12.
Instead of housing Filemaker on our inhouse server, it
was decided that the databases would be stored on the
VPSA server. Before Filemaker 12 could be installed on
and accessed by all individual computers, a number of
computers had operating systems upgraded to Mac OS
10.6.
We continued to create and use formbuilder forms for
various applications and events.
OBJECTIVES MET THIS YEAR
Phase 2 of the workfl ow process in Peoplesoft was
started in early 2012. This phase included an alert
system for H-1B and other employment based visa
types. Design and development for this phase continued
through the year.
The Bechtel International Center website continued to
be added to and enhanced with new information and
changing regulations. A new section was added to the
website for Stanford students going abroad.
Regular training sessions were implemented to train new
administrators in using the workfl ow process to request
J and H visas.
OBJECTIVES FOR THE COMING YEAR
Continue with Phase 2 of the Bechtel Workfl ow process
which would encompass alerts system for employment
based visas and also online applications for visa
document extensions and change of program for F1
and J1 students.
