STUDENT AMENITIES<br />
<strong>Art</strong> Supplies are discounted 20% in <strong>the</strong> <strong>FIA</strong> Museum<br />

The Café <strong>of</strong>fers a 10% discount to members on all<br />
Starbucks ® c<strong>of</strong>fee and H<strong>of</strong>fman’s Deli selections.<br />
Members receive 20% <strong>of</strong>f classes, priority enrollment,<br />
<strong>the</strong> <strong>FIA</strong> Members Magazine, free admission to<br />
exhibitions and more.<br />
The <strong>FIA</strong> Collection inspires many faculty and<br />
students. Sketching visits to <strong>the</strong> galleries are indicated<br />
in <strong>the</strong> course description.<br />
Lockers may be rented in <strong>the</strong> <strong>Art</strong> <strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong>fice with<br />
your own lock for $10/$13 per session, or $30/$40 per<br />
year. The <strong>FIA</strong> is not responsible for items lost or stolen<br />
from lockers, galleries or studios. Lockers may not be<br />
rented by phone.<br />
Scholarships are distributed based on need.<br />
Applications are available as soon as <strong>the</strong> session<br />
catalog is released. Forms are available on a walk-in<br />
basis only in <strong>the</strong> <strong>Art</strong> <strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong>fice or at <strong>the</strong> <strong>FIA</strong> front<br />
desk. To be eligible, applicants must disclose <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
household income on <strong>the</strong> application. If granted,<br />
<strong>the</strong> scholarship co-pay is required prior to <strong>the</strong> first<br />
class meeting. Late co-payments may forfeit <strong>the</strong><br />
scholarship. Individuals may be awarded three<br />
scholarships in a two-year period <strong>of</strong> time; although<br />
designated <strong>FIA</strong> program involvement may waive<br />
this restriction. Scholarships are limited to two per<br />
household per session.<br />

ART SCHOOL POLICIES<br />
Registrations are valid with full payment. Register up<br />
to three days before class by phone, walk-in or mail<br />
(not by voice mail). Cash (not by mail), checks, VISA,<br />
MasterCard, and American Express are accepted.<br />
Registration confirmations are issued via email upon<br />
request. Class fees are not prorated.<br />
Class Cancellations due to wea<strong>the</strong>r and faculty<br />
illness will be rescheduled based on <strong>the</strong> availability<br />
<strong>of</strong> classrooms and staff, but are not guaranteed. If a<br />
class is cancelled due to low enrollment, students will<br />
be called two days before <strong>the</strong> class was scheduled to<br />
begin.<br />
Refunds are not given after <strong>the</strong> second class. A $50<br />
charge will be withheld for cancellations later than four<br />
business days before <strong>the</strong> first class meeting.<br />
General Open Studio is free <strong>of</strong> charge and open to<br />
all adult students enrolled in <strong>the</strong> current session. See<br />
page 11 for open ceramics studio fees.<br />
Youth Membership participants (ages 2.5–12) receive<br />
a 20% discount on art classes, a 10% discount on The<br />
Café and Museum Shop items, mailings in <strong>the</strong>ir name,<br />
and three free membership activities per year.<br />
Pre-College Portfolio Program is a three-year<br />
subsidized program designed to strenghten gifted high<br />
school freshmen’s visual art skills for college entrance.<br />
Applications are due in December; call for details.<br />

Family Block indicates that adults and children<br />

pair. A second sibling may enroll in class at a 50% rate. Three children<br />
must be accompanied by two adults. Each pair and threesome must<br />

an artist/educator for more<br />
than 25 years.<br />
Michele Gunn taught art at<br />
Durant-Tuuri-Mott Elementary<br />
<strong>School</strong>. She specializes in<br />
early childhood and youth<br />
ceramic handbuilding<br />
techniques.<br />
Karyn Konkel holds a BFA in<br />
ceramics and drawing from<br />
Sienna Heights University.<br />
She taught at <strong>the</strong> Creative<br />
<strong>Art</strong>s Montessori and worked<br />
at Pewabic Pottery in Detroit.<br />
Erin Rehil holds a BFA in<br />
