27.1 The ABC is a volunteer parent group that offers important services to the <strong>Athletic</strong><br />

Department. The primary purpose of the ABC is to support and enhance the FIS <strong>Athletic</strong><br />

Program.<br />

27.2 The ABC is involved with the housing of visiting athletes for tournaments,<br />

operating concession stands for athletic events, sponsoring the end of season awards<br />

evenings and fundraising for special events or projects.<br />

27.3 The ABC website can be found via the <strong>Athletic</strong>s Home page on the school<br />

website www.fis.edu (Click on Student Life)<br />

27.4 Please note that a condition of your son/daughter’s participation on an FIS<br />

athletic team is that you house visiting athletes and also work in the concession<br />

stand.<br />

28.0 Working in the ABC Concession Stand<br />

28.1 As a parent of an FIS athlete you are required to work in the ABC concession<br />

stand<br />

when your son/daughter’s team are assigned to work a ‘shift’ in the concession stand.<br />

This is normally one or two weekends during the season. The concession work<br />

schedules are planned in advance and parents receive information showing the dates<br />

on which the team parents assist with the concession stand.<br />

28.2 At the beginning of the week when your son/daughter’s team is assigned to work<br />

in the concession stand you will receive an email with a link to the ‘volunteer spot’. This<br />

link will take you to a sign-up sheet where you can write yourself in for the time slot that<br />

suits you best.<br />

28.3 All families NOT signed up by the Wednesday prior to the event will be assigned<br />

a time slot. If the time slot does not suit your planning, you are responsible for finding an<br />

exchange or replacement.<br />

29.0 Housing of Visiting Athletes<br />

29.1 The athletic department organizes all housing of visiting athletes for the regular<br />

season home games which is typically a one night hosting commitment on Friday night.<br />

29.2 The <strong>Athletic</strong> Booster Club housing committee organizes all housing of visiting<br />

athlete for end of season tournaments hosted by FIS which is typically a two or three<br />

night housing commitment either Wednesday – Saturday or Thursday – Saturday.<br />

29.3 A condition of your son/daughter’s participation on an FIS athletic team is the<br />

hosting of visiting athletes for weekend games and during home tournament events.<br />

29.4 Housing is an excellent opportunity for athletes and their families to develop<br />

friendships with the athletes and families in other international schools and countries.<br />

FIS families are reminded that this is a reciprocal arrangement among the international<br />

schools, and the success of the weekend sport exchanges and end of season<br />

tournaments depends greatly upon the cooperation, participation and involvement of all<br />

concerned<br />
