Large Company Business Health Award for 2010 (501 + employees)
The winner in the Large Company category did a stellar job of exceeding the requirements set in the
application. The following is just a sampling of the programs that make them the clear winner for this
year’s award. In FY 2008, they implemented OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Program which aims to
encourage employees to report concerns and recommendation and empower employees to direct
change in safety matters throughout the organization. The awareness and power of the employees has
resulted in a 75% decrease in work days lost from accidents from FY2008 to FY2009. This aided them in
being ranked in the top 1% for safety out of 7 million workplaces nationwide!
Through the organization’s fitness center they offer free personal training to include fitness routines,
body composition, nutritional analysis and fitness assessments. Other free programs include: prevention
of violence in the workplace, suicide prevention, scream‐free parenting, staying positive in negative
situations, and family well‐being program. In addition, this company capitalizes on external resources
by partnering with the local cities, counties, community programs and services such as parks and
recreation programs to benefit both the military and surrounding civilian communities.
