Message from the Clinical Dean
2009 was a very eventful year for the Northern
Territory Clinical School. The NTCS secured funding
to allow the full four-year Flinders University
Graduate Entry Medical Program to be offered in the
Northern Territory as the Northern Territory Medical
Program (NTMP). This will commence in 2011.
In preparation for the commencement of the NTMP,
staff were immediately employed in the planning
phases of this ground-breaking development. This
included site and architectural planning for building
developments at Charles Darwin University and
Royal Darwin Hospital; contextualization of the
GEMP curriculum for the Northern Territory;
formation of working parties to manage the NTMP
development, marketing activities and employment
of new staff.
At the same time as this planning was taking place, the School continued
with its regular responsibilities of placing and teaching medical and allied
health students; offering research support to academic staff; undertaking
research activities; regularly evaluating our programs and services;
marketing; and liaising with local community advisory groups and with our
numerous stakeholders.
Many thanks to the NT Clinical School and NT Rural Clinical School staff for
their support and efforts during such a demanding year.
