Inauguration @ Warora<br />
The formal consecration of the 600 MW Coal based Power plant, <strong>GMR</strong> EMCO Energy Limited (GEEL)<br />
was performed at project site, Warora, from 22nd to 24th November <strong>2012</strong>. Mr. G M Rao, Group<br />
Chairman, along with his wife Mrs. G Varalakshmi, Mr. G B S Raju, Business Chairman - Energy,<br />
Mrs. B Rama Devi, wife of Mr. Srinivas Bommidala, Business Chairman – Airports, Mr. Kiran Kumar<br />
Grandhi, Business Chairman – Urban Infra and Highways with his wife Mrs. Ragini Grandhi participated.<br />
Mr. Raaj Kumar, CEO – Energy Business and other Senior Officials of the Group were present on the<br />
occasion.<br />
On the occasion, workmen who built the plant were thanked by the Management and served lunch at<br />
Warora, Maharashtra.<br />
The project is ideally located in terms of infrastructure with excellent rail, road and air connectivity and<br />
is expected to be commissioned by the end of this financial year.<br />

Steam Blowing @ Warora<br />
GEEL, achieved another milestone when steam blowing process at the plant commenced on 8th October<br />
<strong>2012</strong>, moving a step closer towards commissioning of the plant.<br />
Synchronisation @ Warora<br />
GEEL, successfully synchronized the first Thermal Unit on 10th <strong>December</strong> <strong>2012</strong><br />

GEEL Completes Transmission Line<br />
<strong>GMR</strong> EMCO Energy Limited, Warora, added another feather to its cap by completing the first 400 KV<br />
D/C dedicated transmission line of the Group which will facilitate evacuation of power generated from<br />
EMCO TPP - Warora to Powergrid, S/S Bhadravati.<br />
The work included laying foundation for 96 towers, erection, and stringing the 400 KV double circuit<br />
line. The transmission line - CKT-1 was successfully charged on 19th October <strong>2012</strong>. The switchyard and<br />
other transformers were charged subsequently.<br />

Traffic Rotary Inauguration @ Chhattisgarh<br />
A Traffic Rotary near the new Mantralaya, Naya<br />
Raipur, was inaugurated by Dr. Raman Singh, Chief<br />
Minister of Chhattisgarh, on 2nd November <strong>2012</strong>.<br />
The Rotary with 150 m diameter and aesthetically<br />
designed colonnades featuring a central water<br />
fountain & garden has been developed by <strong>GMR</strong><br />
Chhattisgarh Energy Limited (GCEL), which is<br />
setting-up the state-of-the-art Coal-based 1370<br />
MW Power project at Raikheda in Raipur District.<br />

Boiler Lightup @ Kamalanga<br />
<strong>GMR</strong> Kamalanga Energy Limited (GKEL) achieved a major milestone when a boiler of the first of its four<br />
units of 350 MW each, was lit up on 28th November <strong>2012</strong>.<br />
DPSI Achieves 10 Million Accident-Free<br />
Manhours<br />
Doosan Power Systems India private Limited (DPSI), <strong>GMR</strong> Chhattisgarh Energy Limited’s EPC contractor<br />
achieved 10 million accident-free manhours at the BTG site on 9th November <strong>2012</strong>. Prizes and<br />
Certificates of Appreciation were awarded to best Safety Performer employees, workers of DPSI and its<br />
Sub-contractors on the occasion.<br />

Energy<br />
Overview of Hydro Projects<br />
With the vision of providing clean energy<br />
through Hydro Power, <strong>GMR</strong> Energy achieved the<br />
long awaited breakthrough clearances in <strong>2012</strong>.<br />
Accordingly, our two projects - Alaknanda Hydro<br />
Energy Project and Bajoli Holi Hydro Energy<br />
Project are on the verge of starting construction.<br />
Our two large hydro Projects in Nepal have also<br />
achieved significant milestones. Development<br />
of renewable energy projects and developing a<br />
sustainable and diversified energy generation<br />
mix has been the cornerstone of <strong>GMR</strong>’s Energy<br />
strategy.<br />
300 MW Alaknanda HE Project (Uttarakhand)<br />
Stage II Forest clearance and approval from<br />
National Green Tribunal (NGT) have been obtained<br />
from MOEF along with key approvals from the<br />
State & Central Governments. The project is set<br />
to start infrastructure development and achieve<br />
Financial Close shortly.<br />
900 MW Upper Karnali and 600 MW<br />
Upper Marsyangdi -2 Hydro projects, Nepal<br />
The Public Hearing at Upper Karnali site was<br />
successfully completed with a record turnout<br />
of more than 3500 people. Studies have been<br />
completed for both projects and PDA negotiations<br />
with Government of Nepal are being undertaken.<br />
Discussions are on with MDBs for financial<br />
appraisal. A long term Import License for 30 years<br />
was obtained from DGFT for import of Power from<br />
these projects, a first of its kind in India.<br />
180 MW Bajoli Holi HE Project<br />
(Himachal Pradesh)<br />
Forest Clearance from Ministry of Environmental<br />
Clearance, MoEF (Stages - I&II) has been obtained.<br />
Land Acquisition process is in the advanced stage<br />
and will be accomplished within 1-2 months. The<br />
project is close to achieving Financial Close.<br />

Urban Infra & Highways<br />
Hungund-Hospet Highway Open for Public<br />
The Commercial Operations of <strong>GMR</strong> Hungund -<br />
Hospet project commenced on 23rd November,<br />
<strong>2012</strong>. Toll collection started at two of the three<br />
toll plazas covering about 88% of the 99 Km long<br />
project highway. The remaining portion will be<br />
completed by March 2013, upon which the 3rd toll<br />
plaza will also become operational. The project has<br />
achieved partial COD on 3rd November, <strong>2012</strong>. Out<br />
of the 87.17 Km of completed section, 62.825 Km<br />
is executed by M/s Oriental Structural Engineers<br />
while 24.34 Km is executed by M/s GIL – EPC. The<br />
project was awarded by NHAI to the Consortium<br />
of M/s <strong>GMR</strong> and M/s OSE and the Concession<br />
Agreement was signed on 22nd March, 2010.<br />
The project highway passes through three districts<br />
of Karnataka - Bagalkot, Koppal and Bellary<br />
connecting towns of Hungund, Illkal, Kustagi,<br />
Hosahalli, Minirabad and Hospet and is expected<br />
to give a boost to the trade, commerce and<br />
tourism in the State.<br />
Hyderabad - Vijayawada Highway<br />
Commences Commercial Operations<br />
<strong>GMR</strong> Highways started Commercial Operations of<br />
the 181 Km long <strong>GMR</strong> Hyderabad – Vijayawada<br />
section of National Highway 9 in the State of<br />
Andhra Pradesh from 20th <strong>December</strong> <strong>2012</strong>.<br />
This is the sixth road project of the Group and<br />
4th in the State of Andhra Pradesh. The project<br />
involved ugradation of the 2 - lane highway to<br />
4 - lane as per specifications laid down by NHAI.<br />
The project will not only curb the frequent delays<br />
experienced by travellers but also improve the<br />
safety levels. The corridor connecting two major<br />
economic hubs of Andhra Pradesh - Hyderabad<br />
and Vijayawada is expected to boost the economy<br />
of the region. The project was awarded through<br />
International Competitive bidding by NHAI on<br />
DBFOT basis with a Concession Period of 25 years<br />
including 2.5 years of construction period.<br />

‘CORR’ Site Visits<br />
Mr. Edapadi K Palaniswami, the Minister for<br />
Highways and Minor Ports Department,<br />
Government of Tamilnadu (GoTN), Chennai,<br />
accompanied by Dr. Niranjan Mardi, IAS, Principal<br />
Secretary to GoTN, Highways and Minor Ports<br />
Department, Mr. D Vivekanandan, IAS, MD -<br />
Tamilnadu Road Development Company (TNRDC)<br />
Ltd., Mr. Y R Balaji, GM-Projects, TNRDC, Chief<br />
Engineers - Highways Department, GoTN,<br />
visited the Chennai Outer Ring Road Project on<br />
16th October <strong>2012</strong>.<br />
Mr. O B Raju, MD - <strong>GMR</strong> Highways,<br />
Mr. R Sabhanayagam, CPM - CORR and<br />
Mr. D R Ughandhar, CPM, GIL-EPC Division,<br />
welcomed the Officials at Vandalur, proposed<br />
location of the Interchange at NH45.<br />
The Minister assessed the progress of the project<br />
road work and also inspected the laboratory/<br />
Precast Yard at Ch: 21+000. The Officials proceeded<br />
for site visit starting from Vandalur via Nazarathpet<br />
(proposed location of the interchange at NH4) to<br />
Nemilichery (proposed location of the interchange<br />
at NH205). On completion of the site inspection,<br />
the Minister expressed satisfaction on the project<br />
progress in spite of various challenges.<br />

Urban Infra & Highways<br />
Computer Training - Rajahmundry<br />
A 5 day orientation programme for imparting<br />
Computer skills to the local youth was conducted<br />
at Andhra Bank Institute of Rural Development<br />
(ABIRD) Rajahmundry. The programme has been<br />
organised as per the directions of Ms. Neetu<br />
Kumari Prasad, District Collector, Kakinada.<br />
Around 33 candidates were selected and placed<br />
in Government Police and Revenue departments<br />
as Consultants. The institute personnel were kind<br />
enough to give certificates to all the participiants.<br />
The District Collector distributed the certificates.<br />
Developing Rural BPOs<br />
Kakinada Industrial Investment Region entered<br />
into partnership agreement with one of the<br />
largest Rural BPO Organizations in India,<br />
M/s. Rural Shores, Bangalore, on 03 November,<br />
<strong>2012</strong> to establish a Rural BPO in Kakinada.<br />
The signing ceremony was held at Chambers of<br />
the District Collector during which M/s. Kakinada<br />
Industrial Investment Region and M/s. RuralShores<br />
signed the agreement in the august presence of<br />
Ms. Neetu Kumari Prasad, I.A.S., Collector & District<br />
Magistrate, East-Godavari District. Members<br />
of the District Administration, employees of<br />
<strong>GMR</strong>-Kakinada Industrial Investment Region and<br />
Ruralshores, were present on the occasion.<br />
Kakinada Industrial Investment Region also<br />
announced to the Honourable Collector, the<br />
commencement of development of a Marine<br />
Processing Zone. Spread over 100-150 acres,<br />
the Marine Processing Zone plans to cater to<br />
needs of the Indian and Overseas companies. 3-4<br />
Marine Processing Units are likely to commence<br />
operations over the next 12-18 months employing<br />
about 1000-1500 local people.<br />
ISO 9001:2008 Re-certification for GIL - EPC<br />
GIL – EPC Division successfully achieved ISO 9001:2008 recertification from the certifying body BVCI.<br />
The ISO recertification audit was conducted from 29th to 31st October <strong>2012</strong>.<br />
The 10 mandays audit was conducted by 6 auditors. No NCRs were reported during the audit process.<br />
The certifying body appreciated the commitment of the top management towards ISO certification<br />
along with the practices adopted for documentation and monitoring Sub-contractors.<br />

12th GLOBAL INVESTORS MEET<br />
On the occasion of 12th anniversary of<br />
formation of the State of Chhattisgarh, the<br />
Government of Chhattisgarh organized<br />
a Global Investors Meet and Exhibition - <strong>2012</strong><br />
from 1st to 7th November <strong>2012</strong> at Naya Raipur,<br />
attended by Mr. G M Rao, Group Chairman and<br />
other dignitaries.<br />
The Group Chairman, in his address said “India<br />
is growing at double the pace of the rest of the<br />
world. In this context, it is remarkable that the<br />
State of Chhattisgarh is growing at almost twice<br />
the rate of India! However, it still has immense<br />
need for development. Chhattisgarh has the<br />
unique advantage to be near the centre of India.<br />
It has tremendous opportunities to leverage<br />
its locational advantage and build world-class<br />
Airports and Aerotropolis to significantly boost<br />
the investments in the State”.<br />
Corporates like Godrej, Jindal Steel & Power,<br />
Essar, Vedanta, SAIL, etc. attended the event.<br />
<strong>GMR</strong> Infrastructure Limited (GIL) signed three<br />
MoUs with the Government of Chhattisgarh<br />
during the event.<br />

SATTE Award For RGIA<br />
Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) was awarded the “Best<br />
Performing Domestic Airport” in the Aviation Sector during the<br />
Annual Tourism Trade Show SATTE-<strong>2012</strong>, held from 10th -12th<br />
February, <strong>2012</strong> at Delhi.<br />
National Tourism Award for RGIA<br />
RGIA has been awarded the prestigious “National Tourism Award<br />
2010-’11” under the ‘Best Airport’ category. The award was<br />
presented by her Excellency, the Honourable President of India,<br />
Mrs. Pratibha Singh Patil to Mr. Vikram R. Jaisinghani, CEO-RGIA, at<br />
an award ceremony in New Delhi on 29th February, <strong>2012</strong>.<br />
Skytrax Award for RGIA<br />
Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) has been<br />
declared to be India’s 3rd Best Airport, <strong>2012</strong> at the ‘SKYTRAX World<br />
Airport Awards’ held at Passenger Terminal EXPO in Vienna on<br />
20th April <strong>2012</strong>.<br />
RGIA Bags 2 More Awards<br />
Rajiv Gandhi International Airport has been honoured with the<br />
“Best Cargo Airport & Best Cargo Terminal of the Year” awards,<br />
recently. The esteemed Air Cargo Agents Association of India<br />
(ACAAI), announced the awards during its 39th Annual Convention<br />
held at Istanbul on 22nd- 25th November, <strong>2012</strong>.<br />

Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) won the award for the<br />

held in Chengdu, China.<br />

‘BE Assessment’ For Energy Sector<br />
In the journey towards Business Excellence, the second cycle of Group-wide assessments has been<br />
initiated in the Energy Sector. The purpose of this annual assessment is to have an objective measure<br />
of process performance and results achieved. The assessment team comprised of a mix of TQMS and<br />
internal Certified Assessors.<br />
Energy Sector showed considerable improvement over 2011 with a 43 point jump in the assessment<br />
score.<br />
‘BE: E-Learning’ Module<br />
The revised version of <strong>GMR</strong> Business Excellence e-Learning Module was launched by Mr. P M Kumar,<br />
Chairman-Institution Building & Governance. This is an important milestone considering the Group<br />
is now working towards making Business Excellence a culture of the organization and a way of life to<br />
develop world class processes.<br />
The Malcolm Baldrige Organization has a process of improving the criteria on a bi-annual basis in<br />
accordance with changing business scenario.<br />

Talent Management @ <strong>GMR</strong> Group<br />
<strong>2012</strong> has been an exciting and happening year for<br />
<strong>GMR</strong> – Talent Management Group.<br />
<strong>GMR</strong> Group realizes the need to substantially build<br />
upon the Organization and human capabilities by<br />
developing a strong talent pipeline.<br />
Emerging Leaders:<br />
This year also saw the shift in our businesses from<br />
Project phase to Asset phase. In continuation to<br />
our philosophy of developing Leaders from within,<br />
we have partnered with IIM Kozhikode to develop<br />
our AGMs and GMS for the next level through the<br />
Emerging Leaders Program (ELP). The first batch<br />
successfully completed the program and the 2nd<br />
batch was launched on 10th <strong>December</strong>, <strong>2012</strong>.<br />
e-Learning<br />
e-learning courses based on the <strong>GMR</strong> Competency<br />
Framework of 4 Pillars (Leading Self, Leading<br />
Others, Leading Business and Leading Change) and<br />
11 Competencies are available to the individual at<br />
the workplace.<br />
Talent Review <strong>2012</strong> – 2013<br />
With an objective of building a strong institution,<br />
“Talent Review”, the process of formal interaction<br />
between the Group Holding Board Members and<br />
Senior Leadership Team on Talent Assessment at<br />
the Group and Business levels was organized.<br />
The review covered the assessment of 170 Top<br />
Potential Leaders across the Group.<br />
Professional Development Dialogue <strong>2012</strong>-<br />
2013<br />
Professional Development Dialogue (PDD) is an<br />
annual formal interaction and communication<br />
between the employee and the Manager aimed at<br />
enabling and motivating the employee to pursue<br />
short, mid and long term competence building<br />
goals. The broad objective of PDD is to provide<br />
work opportunities and a learning environment<br />
conducive to personal and professional<br />
development of employees.<br />
Talent Management in the Group assumes<br />
significant importance to address the current<br />
and future business challenges. It primarily aims<br />
at investing in people development by way of<br />
identifying successors and talented individuals for<br />
Leadership Roles in the Group. It also focuses on<br />
identification, development and career movement<br />
of employees within the Group to enhance the<br />
retention of key talent and to prepare Leaders with<br />
a variety of knowledge and cross functional skills.<br />

International Airport (IGIA) on 6th November Hyderabad Airport has two EMPOWER Shops<br />
<strong>2012</strong>. Mr. Ravi Bhatnagar, CFO - DAPS, dignitaries dedicated to sell these products and <strong>GMR</strong>VF<br />
from IGIA and partner NGOs graced the event. facilitates marketing of products through office<br />

Indira Gandhi International Airport - Environment<br />
Team along with IATA - International Airport<br />
Transport Association, conducted a 2-day<br />
workshop on “Infrastructure, Fuel Efficiency<br />
for Emission Reductions” at New Delhi from<br />
10th - 11th September <strong>2012</strong>. Officials from various<br />
Airports, Airlines, Ground handling agencies,<br />
Air traffic Controllers, DGCA and IATA members<br />
participated in the workshop.<br />
Mr. Marcel Hungerbuehler, COO-IGIA, addressed<br />
the participants during the inauguration and<br />
set the Vision by emphasizing on significance<br />
of “Infrastructure, Fuel Efficiency for Emission<br />
Reductions & Sustainable Aviation Environment<br />
Management.” The workshop served as a<br />
platform for reaping multiple benefits like airport<br />
operational efficiency improvement, efficient use<br />
of infrastructures, air navigational improvements<br />
and obtaining stakeholders’ support.<br />

<strong>GMR</strong> “Aerotropolis” Plan<br />
Wows the Mayor of London<br />
Mr. Boris Johnson, the Mayor of London, visited<br />
Hyderabad on 27th November <strong>2012</strong>, along with<br />
a business delegation for a networking event.<br />
On the occasion, he visited Rajiv Gandhi<br />
International Airport and was accorded a warm<br />
reception by Mr. Kiran Kumar Grandhi, Business<br />
Chairman – Airports, Mr. S G K Kishore, CEO –<br />
<strong>GMR</strong> Airport City and Mr. G U G Sastry, COO -<br />
Rajiv Gandhi International Airport.<br />
A detailed presentation on distinct features<br />
of the Airport and Airport City was made by<br />
Mr. Kiran Kumar Grandhi and Mr. S G K Kishore. The<br />
presentation featured the Vision and development<br />
plans to make the Airport City a world class multithemed<br />
hub of economic activity. It also elaborated<br />
on the endeavour to make it a landmark and<br />
one-of-its-kind project in the country.<br />
Mr. Johnson while detailing on development<br />
plans for London, was highly appreciative of the<br />
Airport City concept and was interested in seeking<br />
more details about the Airport and Airport City.<br />
Subsequent to his Hyderabad visit and back in<br />
London, he was reported to have expressed his<br />
desire to build an Aerotropolis on the banks of<br />
the river Thames in London, quoting <strong>GMR</strong>’s similar<br />
foray.<br />

Airports<br />
Cathay launches direct flights to Hong Kong<br />
staged with Rajiv Gandhi International Airport and<br />
the Hong Kong Tourism Board. Cathay Pacific will<br />
be the only airline offering a scheduled non-stop<br />
service between Hyderabad and Hong Kong. The<br />
flights will be operated by an Airbus A330-300<br />
aircraft. Prior to this, the airline launched a weekly<br />
freighter service to Hyderabad in May <strong>2012</strong>.<br />
Cathay Pacific Airways launched a new four<br />
times a week service between Hong Kong and<br />
Hyderabad, at a ceremony at Rajiv Gandhi<br />
International Airport, marking the inauguration<br />
of the new route. The announcement about the<br />
service launch was made at a joint media briefing<br />
Hajj Operations @ RGIA<br />
The Holy Hajj Operations commenced successfully at Rajiv<br />
Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) on 6th October <strong>2012</strong>.<br />
RGIA provided excellent facilities at the Hajj Terminal for the<br />
convenience of pilgrims going on Holy<br />
Hajj. The facilities included separate<br />
area for visitors, Departure Lounge, Tea,<br />
Coffee & Snacks Joints in the Security<br />
Hold area, Telephone Booths, Forex<br />
Counters, Duty Free Shop, First Aid<br />
facility, Buggies for elderly passengers,<br />
Wheelchair for the needy, Parking<br />
etc. A Prayer Hall was also provided<br />
for passengers with facilities for Vazu<br />
(ablutions).<br />

ACI Asia-Pacific Emerging Airports Seminar<br />
The 8th ACI Asia-Pacific Emerging Airports Seminar<br />
was held at Novatel Hotel, Hyderabad. Organised<br />
by ACI and hosted by Rajiv Gandhi International<br />
Airport, the seminar witnessed the presence<br />
of dignitaries from Regulatory bodies under<br />
Government of India, speakers from diverse fields<br />
and eminent delegates. The 4 day seminar was<br />
as a combination of city tour, welcome reception,<br />
gala dinner, an interactive and engrossing CEO<br />
Forum and talk sessions by stalwarts from India<br />
and abroad.<br />
Cargo Apron Inaugurated<br />
RGIA is now positioned as the “Pharma<br />
Hub” of the country constituting about<br />

RGIA Receives Level - 2 Accreditation<br />
Rajiv Gandhi International Airport received<br />
another accreditation for its efforts in managing<br />
and reducing carbon emissions in the Asia-Pacific<br />
region. Airport Council International (ACI) has<br />
accredited RGIA a Level 2 - ‘Reduction’ under<br />
the Airport Carbon Accreditation program on<br />
8th November, <strong>2012</strong> at the 8th ACI Asia-Pacific<br />
Small Airport seminar organized by ACI Asia-Pacific.<br />
Airport Carbon Accreditation is the European<br />
standard for carbon management and emission<br />
reductions at airports. The program received<br />
support from International Civil Aviation<br />
Organization (ICAO) and was extended to the<br />
Asia-Pacific region in November 2011. Mr. Vikram<br />
Jaisinghani, CEO - RGIA received the Certificate<br />
and Mr. P S Nair, CEO - Corporate <strong>GMR</strong> Airports,<br />
received the Airport Carbon Accreditation<br />
Certificate for Indira Gandhi International Airport<br />

On 14th October <strong>2012</strong>, Mr. Bharat Singh,<br />
Supervisor – Raxa, Mr. D K Singh, Supervisor –<br />
Raxa and Mr. Rajnesh Singh, Marshal- Raxa, found<br />
an unattended handbag on a trolley at pickup<br />
point. They informed the CISF vigilance personnel,<br />
who after due security check opened the bag in<br />
the presence of CISF and Delhi Police personnel.<br />
The bag contained a gold Bracelet, some property<br />
papers, cash of ` 2,50,000/, Credit cards, blank<br />
cheques and Visiting Cards.<br />
On the basis of the Visiting Cards, the person was<br />
identified as Mr. Amar Khanna, Secretary - Shiv<br />
Sena, Maharashtra and bag was handed over to<br />
him. Raxa personnel were applauded for alertness<br />

HELPING HAND: RAXA Academy in coordination<br />
with <strong>GMR</strong>VF Varalakshmi Foundation donated a<br />
medical inspection table and extended a helping<br />
hand to the handicapped children at a school in<br />
Chilambathur.<br />
Raxa pioneered the concept of Integrated Security<br />
Solutions, providing an ideal mix of manpower and<br />
systems as a One-stop solution and undertook<br />
vital projects for Indian Naval Project at Vizag<br />
and Caparo Engineering Pvt Ltd. at Chennai. Raxa<br />

‘Excavator Operator’ Training<br />
A new Vocational Training course on ‘Excavator<br />
Operator’ in partnership with Volvo was launched<br />
at <strong>GMR</strong> Varalakshmi Center for Empowerment and<br />
Livelihoods (CEL), Hyderabad, on 25th September,<br />
<strong>2012</strong>. This is the first time that Volvo is partnering<br />
with another company for training of Excavator -<br />
Operators as a part of CSR activities.<br />
The course was inaugurated by<br />

Construction Equipment, India, in the presence of<br />
Mr. David Hill, VP - Finance for Volvo Asia Pacific,<br />

occasion, Mr. Muralidharan emphasized on Volvo‘s<br />
commitment towards CSR in India, demand<br />
for trained operators in this field and about<br />
partnership with <strong>GMR</strong>VF. Ms. Meena emphasized<br />
on how <strong>GMR</strong>VF values partnership with Volvo<br />
and urged the youth to take full advantage of the<br />
course.<br />
Baggage Screeners’ Selection<br />
<strong>GMR</strong> Varalakshmi Foundation supported and<br />
facilitated the selection of “Baggage Screeners” for<br />
Indira Gandhi International Airport by mobilizing<br />
youth in the age group 18-30 years from <strong>GMR</strong><br />
target villages in Uttarakhand, Hyderabad and<br />
Rajam. A total of 38 youth (Uttarakhand -12;<br />
Hyderabad- 14; Rajam -12) were finally selected<br />
through a Written Test and Personal Interview.<br />
After the initial on-the-job training, they will<br />
appear for the “Certification Process” of the<br />
Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) to become<br />
Certified Screeners.<br />

Mobile Medical Unit Launched<br />
To provide health care<br />
services to the community<br />
at the doorstep, <strong>GMR</strong>VF<br />
initiated a Mobile Medical<br />
Unit (MMU) at Kakinada<br />
Industrial Investment<br />
Region. The MMU was<br />
launched in September,<br />
<strong>2012</strong> and caters to health<br />
care needs of 31 villages.<br />
So far, MMU provided<br />
services like health checkups,<br />
medicines etc. to<br />
over 2000 persons from<br />
21 villages.<br />
Passenger Attendant Recruitment Drive<br />
In collaboration with DIAL, <strong>GMR</strong>V Center for<br />
Empowerment and Livelihoods (CEL) - Delhi<br />
organized “Passenger Attendant” recruitment<br />
drive for Indira Gandhi International Airport on<br />
26th June <strong>2012</strong>. CEL-Delhi team mobilized and<br />
registered more than 300 youth from different<br />
areas and a total of 110 unemployed youth<br />
from underprivileged backgrounds attended<br />
the interviews. The local NGOs and Panchayath<br />
leaders in areas like Pochenpor, Dwaraka,<br />
Kusumpoor Pahari, Rangpuri, Goyla Diary, Palam<br />
also supported the mobilization drive. More than<br />
70 youth were finally selected for the job at Indira<br />
Gandhi International Airport.<br />

<strong>GMR</strong> Sports Pvt. Ltd, owner of the Delhi Daredevils, launched the Fast Trax Daredevils School Cup<br />
Twenty20 tournament to promote the sport among the schools and to spot young talent.<br />
