Working with solvent paints is not allowed; for the<br />
options of working with oil paints, contact Bert de Waard<br />
or the Occupational Health & Safety coordinator.<br />
Working with gypsum (plaster of Paris) and cement is not<br />
allowed in the buildings (the plaster workshop may be used by<br />
agreement). Outside in the courtyard are special containers<br />
for gypsum and cement waste.<br />
It is forbidden to bring any hazardous and/or health-risk<br />
substances into the buildings or grounds.<br />
14. MISCELLANEOUS MATTERS<br />
14.1 Information for students<br />
The Executive Board shall ensure that all current rules,<br />
regulations and decisions within the academy are adequately<br />
publicised and available.<br />
14.2 Year planning and holidays<br />
In accordance with the Act, the <strong>academic</strong> <strong>year</strong> will be from 1<br />
September until 31 August of the following <strong>year</strong>. The <strong>year</strong> will<br />
comprise at least 200 teaching days and is divided into two<br />
semesters. The first semester is from 1 September to 1<br />
February and the second semester is from 1 February to 1 July.<br />
A teaching day is a day on which the student has access to the<br />
academy.<br />
14.3 Determination of non-teaching periods<br />
The Executive Board determines annually the periods during<br />
which there will be no teaching and no examinations.<br />
This information will be provided to all students at the<br />
beginning of the <strong>academic</strong> <strong>year</strong>.<br />
14.4 University expenses<br />
Besides the tuition fee, additional material, equipment and<br />
study expenses should be taken into account, which will amount<br />
to approximately €700 - €1,000 per <strong>year</strong>. This amount can vary<br />
greatly for each department.<br />
Material and study expenses include:<br />
- Cost of drawing and painting materials, wood, photographic<br />
paper, photographic equipment etc. Certain products are<br />
available from the academy at reduced prices.<br />
- Excursion costs. These expenses will be kept as low as<br />
possible.<br />
