VISUAL ARTS<br />
The following degree courses fall under the Visual Arts course<br />
program:<br />
- Visual Arts<br />
- Photography<br />
- Audio visual<br />
- Theatre Design<br />
- Glass Design<br />
- Ceramic Design<br />
The competencies of a graduate student of the Visual Arts degree<br />
course are:<br />
1. Creative ability<br />
The student is able to create authentic visual works of art that<br />
emerge from his/her own artistic vision and makes a contribution to<br />
the fulfilment of a personal ambition as a visual artist<br />
the student:<br />
- creates images that represent a personal vision or subject<br />
matter in a to him or her specific fashion and communicates<br />
this to the public<br />
- converts his or her artistic vision into visual work using the<br />
appropriate media<br />
- transforms investigations, experiments and contemplations of<br />
knowledge, intuitions, impressions and emotions into visual<br />
work<br />
- shows insight in the way in which images, forms, materials,<br />
proportions and colors evoke emotions and communicate a certain<br />
meaning<br />
- demonstrates insight into the effects of the techniques used<br />
- uses a method in which experiences with the chosen materials or<br />
media can be used to make a better work of art<br />
2. The ability of critical reflection<br />
The student is able to observe his own work and that of others, to<br />
analyze, interpret and evaluate it<br />
the student:<br />
- evaluates his/her own work on its artistic merits and the<br />
effect it creates<br />
- evaluates his/her own working method and oversees implications<br />
of choices and decisions and can justify these afterwards<br />
- will study in depth:<br />
- art history and art- and artists' theories ( in relation to a<br />
cultural and social context)<br />
- different visions on and approaches of the visual arts as a<br />
profession (art-, and artists' theories), from a historical<br />
point of view as well as from a contemporary point of view<br />
