Grobel celebrates 50 years at First Community Bank
Lynn D. -Grobel recently
celebrated 50 years of service at First
Community Bank. Grobel was born in
Minneapolis, MN. After high school
graduation he joined the army where
he was a paratrooper. Grobel then
graduated from the Minnesota School
of Business with a degree in Business
Administration and Accounting.
He later attended the University of
Wisconsin School of Banking where
he received graduate and post-graduate
degrees.
Grobel was a national bank
examiner for the Comptroller of the
(now known as First Community
Bank). He was president of the bank
from 1961 to 1998. Grobel was
named chairman of the board in 1998
and still holds that position. He is
also chairman and president of First
Community Bancorp, Inc.
Grobel has held many civic
positions including past president of
the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce,
Valley Hangar of the Montana Pilots
Association; past treasurer and
director of Valley View Home, past
vice president and director of the
Montana Chamber of Commerce, and
Currency before he came to Glasgow past director of the Helena Branch Minneapolis. Lynn Grobel

Once again, community support was prevailant at the
Wiers Benefit Supper & Auction. Congratulations to the

4-H Awards Day this Sunday
Valley County 4-H Awards Day will be held Sunday,
November 1st at 2:00 p.m. at the Evangelical Church.
Members and Leaders will be iecognized for their years of
involvement.
Project achievements are the focus of this recognition
day where the 4-Hers' efforts and excellence are highlighted.
Special awards such as "Friend of 4-H", "Outstanding
Leader" , "Outstanding Alumni" and "Outstanding Resource
Person" will be awarded to those individuals who have really
given it all to 4-H. The Valley County 1 DARE YOU award
will be presented, and the Livestock Carcass winners will be
recognized.
Please plan to attend this event spotlighting the
achievements of Valley County 4-H.

Bubba and Earl had apilot to take them to Canada to
hunt moose. They bagged four. As they were loading them
on the plane to come home, the pilot tells them the plane can
only carry two.
The two good old boys objected strongly. "Last year
we shot four and the pilot let us put them all on board. Why,
he even had the same plane as yours."
Reluctantly, the pilot gave in and all four moose were
loaded. Unfortunately, even on full power the little plane
couldn't handle the load and went down a few minutes after
takeoff.
Climbing out of the wreck Bubba asked Earl, "Any
idea where we are?"
"Yeah," says Earl, "I think we're pretty close to where
we crashed last year."

Former banking affiliations include vice president of
the state American Bankers Association, president of the
Montana Bankers Association and member of the State
Banking Board.
His family includes his wife, Lois, sons, Steve and
Pete. and a daughter Mary, who is deceased. He also has
2 grandsons and 2 granddaughters. He enjoys keeping
up with financial news and spending the winter in Palm
Desert, CA. He was an instrument rated pilot with 6,000
hours of flight time and is proud of the fact he never put a
scratch on any of the planes he rented, owned by himself or
with a partner.
"lt's been a great fifty years. We have no regrets.
'We like it here and are happy we moved here. We've made
a lot of friends over the years," said Grobel. "Banking has
changed so much. Now with computers and automation,
fewer employees can do the job. We've tried to keep that
local touch, while offering as many products and services
Harvest Party, everyone invited!
The Assembly of God church will be having their
annual harvest party fun this Saturday, Oct. 31, from
5:30 to 8:00 p.m. There will be chili and cornbread for
everyone, as well as games for both the kids and adults to
enjoy. Every kid will receive 3 prize when they play each
game, as well as a bag of candy when they leave.
If you would like to help provide candy for the kids,
you can leave it off at the church office by this Friday.
