2010 Year End Awards Results . . .
Congratulations and thank you to all who entered their horses for
YEA and USDF end of year awards. We are pleased to announce
this year’s winners. It was a pleasure to see new names among the
winners. Of course it is wonderful to welcome our old friends as well. Each
and every one of you have done a tremendous job of showcasing our Irish
Draught and Irish Draught Sport Horses throughout the US and Canada. Each
year, as we receive the entries both for USDF and YEA we run into the same
issues, so here are a few things to keep in mind for the 2011 showing season.
1. Owners must be current members of IDHSNA
2. All horses must be registered with IDHSNA
3. Horses must show under their IDHSNA registered name
4. All forms must be in by December 1st in order for be processed

JP Young (Jack) and I had a fabulous show
season in 2010. Starting out at 2’11” and 3’ my
goal was to make it to the Grand Prix arena at
Woodside, CA where the classes start at 3’7”.
My goal arena was the very one where I first saw
Jack’s sire compete when I was deciding if I would breed to him. In our last
show of 2010, Jack and I placed 2nd in the 3’9” class in the Grand Prix arena
against the professional riders.
It has been such a blessing to have raised this colt. His mom delivered him
into my lap and he was perfect. I can honestly say it is Jack’s jump that has made
me a better rider. And it is the constant love and adoration from Karen and me
that has made Jack the confident horse he is. As much as we love each other
and have super fun jumping and competing, Jack is grown up now and ready
to move on. Jack is set for his next human to make their dreams come true as
well. We are proud to offer JP Young for sale.
Hunters Level 1

Today’s Irish Princess is a 4 year old RIDSH
that was started over fences in April of this year.
She attended her first rated hunter jumper show
two months later in June. She was shown in the
Kindergarten Hunters and did better than I could
have hoped. I would have been happy if she just
got around the course clean, but she came home
with a blue ribbon in her first over fences class of
her career (without shoes to top it off). She was
Kindergarten Hunter Champion and Long Stirrup Hunter Reserve Champion. We
look forward to seeing what she does in the future.

Well, we had another wonderful year. Stepping
up especially the dressage and moving up
in eventing. Next year will bring some changes.
My husband FINALLY gets his shot to shine. After
a LONG time of waiting he will be doing the
Trans Am Series of car racing, a longtime dream
for him. Therefore a role reversal occurs. All those
years when I was traveling for events and he was
at home base taking care of things... now I will be
at home, while he travels extensively for racing.
I board at farm that hosts a lot of USDF dressage shows, so we are working
on 3rd level work. Ricky has lovely canter work but we need to develop
that trot. Travel we have done in the past for all those events will not be in the
cards, although we will get in what events we can!!!! Therefore the focus will

change; more dressage, probably more H/J shows, and events as we can. No
matter what, y’all will see us out there!!!!

Ballymoa is known at Oakdale Farm as Irish
since he was the first Irish horse at the farm and
the start of our love of Irish Horses. Irish is the
horse that students get to event when they are
having troubles with their horses or lost confidence.
Irish always gives them confidence
and puts a smile back on their faces. Irish is the
horse I pick to hunt when the jumping or footing
is trappy. I know that he will take care of me.
When a boarder’s horse won’t cross a creek, Irish is the lead horse that shows
them how. If that doesn’t work all you have to do is get behind them with Irish
and say push. He will knock them into the creek so that they have to cross!!!
Irish has heart. This is something you can’t teach and this is why we love him at
Oakdale.

Pretty Please, Rick Triplett’s 2009 Irish
Draught Sporthorse filly was the first foal of her
sire, and was Rick’s baby from her first breath.
She was foaled on her sire’s birthday, big bright
and gorgeous, and has just gotten better as she
grows up. In showing for 2010, she has earned
points in Open Hunter Breeding and Dressage
Sporthorse Breeding competition: She is the
2010 Northwest Sporthorse Breeders Assocation Year-End Champion Hunter
Breeding Yearling Filly; and she is the 2010 USEF/USHJA Zone 9 Hunter Breeding
Yearling Horse of the Year. To have her earn the IDHSNA Year End Championship
is just icing on the cake!

American Lace, Kate Triplett’s 2007 Irish
Draught Sporthorse filly had a difficult start in
life, as she battled a severe infection and an
injury from her first days though her first month
of life. With the toughness and intelligence her
bloodlines bequeathed, she has overcome it all
and grown into a strong and beautiful three year
old. Lace has earned points this year in Open
Hunter Breeding and Dressage Sporthorse Breeding competition: Lace is the
2010 Northwest Sporthorse Breeders Assocation Year-End Champion Hunter
Breeding 3 Year Old Filly as well as the 2010 USEF/USHJA Zone 9 Hunter Breeding
Three Year Old Reserve Horse of the Year. We are very pleased to have her
represent IDHSNA as the In-Hand Level 2 Champion!
