Mr. Kevin N. White graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts in<br />

Psychology and minors in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education. He holds an<br />

Educational Specialist degree, Masters of Education in Divergent Learning, and is currently<br />

working on a Masters in Organizational Change and Leadership. Mr. White has worked with the<br />

USC Child Development and Research Center in a variety of capacities including teaching,<br />

administration, training programs for teachers and serving on the Advisory Board.<br />

Mr. David Booth recently relocated to Columbia from Clearwater, Florida. Mr. Booth completed his<br />

Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies from Trinity College of Florida. He has earned his Master of<br />

Arts in Theology, and is currently working on a Masters in Education at Columbia International<br />

University. Mr. Booth serves as an Extended Day Teacher at <strong>Hammond</strong> throughout the school<br />

year.<br />

Mrs. Tari Goodwin is a native of Chester, SC. Mrs. Goodwin graduated from Claflin University<br />

where she earned a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Childhood Development. Currently, Mrs.<br />

Goodwin is pursuing her Master's degree in Organizational Change and Leadership from Columbia<br />

College. She has over 8 years of classroom experience and enjoys the interactions with young<br />

children. Mrs. Goodwin serves as a full-time Extended Day Teacher/ <strong>Summer</strong> Camp Coordinator<br />

at <strong>Hammond</strong> throughout the school year.<br />

Mrs. Elizabeth “Bibs” Babson is a <strong>Hammond</strong> parent and a graduate of <strong>Hammond</strong> <strong>School</strong>. Her<br />

daughter is a sophomore at <strong>Hammond</strong> <strong>School</strong> and a varsity cheerleader. Her son is a recent<br />

graduate of <strong>Hammond</strong> <strong>School</strong> and is a freshman at the University of South Carolina. Mrs. Babson<br />

has earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Masters of Audiology from the University of South<br />

Carolina.<br />

Nurse Lobitz has her BSN from Loyola University, is a Certified Pediatric Nurse, has over 20 years<br />

of experience and been the <strong>Hammond</strong> <strong>School</strong> Nurse for the last 7 years. She is an American Red<br />

Cross Instructor and teaches CPR to <strong>Hammond</strong> faculty and staff every year. This summer Nurse<br />

Lobitz will be coordinating the summer registration on Monday’s in the Upper <strong>School</strong> Gym.<br />

Ms. Paige Perlich is a native of Lexington, SC. Ms. Perlich graduated from Lexington High <strong>School</strong><br />

and she is currently attending Midlands Technical College in the Surgical Technology program.<br />

Taking care of people and helping people has always been important to her and she especially<br />

enjoys taking care of and helping children. Ms. Perlich plans to specialize in pediatric surgery when<br />

she begins her surgical technologist career. She is very excited to be at <strong>Hammond</strong> this summer!<br />

Mrs. Carolyn Stoddard is has recently been appointed as the Director of College Counseling in the<br />

<strong>Hammond</strong> Upper <strong>School</strong>. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from The Florida<br />

State University Honors Program and her Master of Education in Higher Education and Student<br />

Affairs from the University of South Carolina. Mrs. Stoddard worked in Undergraduate Admissions<br />

and taught first-year courses at USC prior to her arrival at <strong>Hammond</strong>. Mrs. Stoddard has hosted<br />

<strong>Hammond</strong> <strong>Summer</strong> Camps since 2011 and is excited to spend another week with little girls and<br />

their little dolls!<br />

Hawk Ridge Full Day <strong>Summer</strong> Theatre Productions<br />

Mrs. Genevieve Alert graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts and a<br />

Masters of Arts in Teaching Theatre. While working on her Masters, Mrs. Alert was an instructor at<br />

the USC Drama Conservatory and Workshop Theatre teaching the fundamentals of drama to<br />

elementary, middle, and high school students. For three consecutive summers, she served as the<br />

Drama Director at the USC Children’s Center under the direction of Mr. Kevin White. Mrs. Alert<br />

has been teaching theatre at Sandhills Middle <strong>School</strong> in Lexington 4 for the past six years. Her<br />

service to her school includes Teacher of the Year 2011-2012 school year, a member of the <strong>School</strong><br />

Leadership and Accountability Team, a member of the District Teacher Cabinet, and a member of<br />

the <strong>School</strong> Improvement Council. As a facilitator for the Tiger Pride Team, she coordinated a<br />

professional learning community which focuses on school performances, student recognitions, and<br />

school incentives. Mrs. Alert is very passionate about theatre education and fostering the love for<br />

drama in young people. She is excited to work at <strong>Hammond</strong> this summer serving as the Director of<br />

<strong>Summer</strong> Theatre for the Hawk Ridge Full Day Camp.<br />

Mrs. Laura Clark has recently relocated to the Columbia area from Sumter with her husband and<br />

four teenage sons. Mrs. Clark graduated from the University of Central Florida with her Bachelors<br />

Degree in Science. Mrs. Clark has been teaching for ten years with the last six years focused in<br />

Fine Arts and Performing Arts. She has directed over forty-eight productions in theatre, eight of<br />

which were musicals. Mrs. Clark loves creating characters with special effects, make-up and<br />

prosthetics and designing sets that help showcase her students. Her students under her direction<br />

have won awards in both art and theatre including a state championship for high school and two<br />

state runner-ups for middle school. She helped create and implement the SCISA State Drama<br />

Festival. She has performed in productions at the Sumter Little Theatre as well as the Hartsville<br />

Little Theatre where she won Best Performance for her portrayal of Penny in “You Can’t Take It<br />

With You”. She loves sharing her enthusiasm and passion for the arts with her students. When she<br />

isn’t knee deep in scripts, painting or working with students she loves spending time on the lake<br />

with her husband and boys.<br />

education, she has specialized in developing and implementing technology enriched curriculums<br />

for elementary children. Mrs. Creech has focused on the inclusion of iPads at <strong>Hammond</strong>, working<br />

with students as they use technology to enhance their overall learning experiences.<br />

Mr. Michael Frank is a school teacher and owner and lead guide of Frank’s Fly Arts guide service<br />

in Columbia, SC. Frank’s Fly Arts came about as a result of his desire to combine his teaching<br />

skills and passion for fly fishing and the aquatic environment. He offers fly tying instruction, fly<br />

fishing summer camps, and some of the most unique guided fly fishing trips in the Southeast where<br />

you can catch trout, smallmouth, largemouth, and striped bass all in the same trip!<br />

Columbia College where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education. Mrs. Adams<br />

worked in the <strong>Hammond</strong> Extended Day program for two years before staying home to start a<br />

family. After nine years at home, she returned to <strong>Hammond</strong> as a kindergarten assistant where she<br />

has enjoyed teaching with Mrs. Kelly Derrick for the last eight years.<br />

Mr. Michael Bank is a fourth degree black belt who has made enhancing his students’ agility,<br />

flexibility, stamina, reflexes, and strength, his life’s passion. He found that such training has several<br />

beneficial side effects, including increased self-confidence, self-discipline, and mental focus. Mr.<br />

Bank holds a Bachelor of Science in Business, Criminal Justice, and Sports Coaching from the<br />

University of South Carolina. He has served six years at McEntire Joint National Guard Station with<br />

the 169th Security Forces Squadron. Mr. Bank was recognized for his work as a Martial Arts<br />

Instructor with the US Air Force. Mr. Bank has been an Enrichment Instructor at <strong>Hammond</strong> <strong>School</strong><br />

Mrs. Pam Boggs is a native of North Augusta, South Carolina. She graduated from the University<br />

of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education. Mrs. Boggs was a scholarship<br />

varsity cheerleader at the University of South Carolina and earned the Most Spirited award. She<br />

has over 23 years of experience teaching recreational cheerleading and tumbling classes and<br />

camps to students all across South Carolina. Mrs. Boggs has served as a judge at cheerleading<br />

competitions on local, state, national and international levels. In addition, she is a fitness<br />

enthusiast and wishes to spread her love for physical fitness to children, showing them that<br />

exercise can be fun and rewarding!<br />

Mr. George Bryan III is a PGA Professional, and the founder and Director of Instruction at George<br />

Bryan Golf Academy. He is a graduate of the University of South Carolina. Mr. Bryan was named<br />

1998 Carolinas’ PGA Junior Golf Leader of the Year and selected by Golf Digest as one of the Best<br />

Teachers in South Carolina for 2000 and 2001. He earned SC PGA Chapter Player of the Year<br />

honors in 2003 and played in the 1999 PGA Championship at Medinah and the 2004 MCI Heritage.<br />

Mr. Chase Butler graduated from North Greenville College in May of 2006 and Spartanburg<br />

Methodist College in 2003. He was a student of the George Bryan Golf Academy for 15 years,<br />

enrolling when he was 8 years old! Mr. Butler has won the BMW Collegiate Championship and a<br />

number of junior championships. He is an Apprentice Golf Professional in the PGA of America, and<br />

his goal is to be a world class player and golf instructor!<br />

Mr. Bob Crabb is a certified USPTA and PTR tennis instructor. Mr. Crabb taught tennis at the<br />

Richland County Tennis Center from 1978-2008. He was the tennis coach at Spring Valley and<br />

Richland Northeast from 1971-1987. Mr. Crabb was the South Carolina High <strong>School</strong> Tennis Coach<br />

of the Year in 1981. He has worked with both the <strong>Hammond</strong> <strong>School</strong> tennis teams and Enrichment<br />

Mrs. Elizabeth Dorn is the Area Director for Lango/ BBM Academy and has facilitated their Lango<br />

programs for 3 years. All of the teachers are trained in the Lango technique. Many are native<br />

Ms. Lauren Eynon has been teaching in the <strong>Hammond</strong> Lower <strong>School</strong> since 2010 as a teaching<br />

assistant in the kindergarten. As a Columbia, SC native, Ms. Eynon is a graduate of <strong>Hammond</strong><br />

<strong>School</strong>, which makes it a pleasure to return and teach here. She graduated from the University of<br />

South Carolina where she earned a teaching degree in Early Childhood Education. She is<br />

presently working on her Masters in Language and Literacy at the University of South Carolina and<br />

will finish in the spring of 2014. Ms. Eynon has worked for years in the <strong>Hammond</strong> <strong>Summer</strong><br />

Program and successfully led “Pinkalicious” for the past two summers.<br />

Mrs. Logan Fowles grew up in Columbia and graduated from the University of South Carolina with<br />

a B.A. in Psychology and Child Development. She obtained her Children’s Yoga Certification, with<br />

an emphasis on ages 3-12, from the Asheville Yoga Center. In addition to teaching weekly<br />

children’s yoga classes, Mrs. Fowles is an Assistant Cheerleading Coach at <strong>Hammond</strong> <strong>School</strong> and<br />

a preschool teacher at Shandon United Methodist Preschool.<br />

Ms. Garbowski Garbowski has been involved in language instruction since 1986. She has a<br />

Bachelor of Science in Spanish Education and a Master’s of Education in Educational Studies.<br />

She was initially trained in the Rassias Method of language instruction and began teaching<br />

language labs as an undergraduate student. Through studying and teaching many methods of<br />

language instruction, Ms. Garbowski has developed a unique approach to language teaching and a<br />

keen understanding of language learning.<br />

Ms. Jamie Gibbs is a PhD Candidate at the University of South Carolina specializing in 19 th<br />

Century British Literature. As an instructor of record for the First Year English Department, Ms.<br />

Gibbs is responsible for teaching both introductory English courses for incoming students (ENGL<br />

101 and ENGL 102). In her spare time, if such a thing exists, she is actively engaged with the<br />

creative writing community, enjoys photography, paper crafts, board games, video games, movies,<br />

sewing and a plethora of other crafty-type-things.<br />

Mrs. Liza Graham<br />

Mrs. Liza Graham is in her 6th year of teaching at <strong>Hammond</strong> <strong>School</strong> as director of bands, an<br />

instrumental band program for middle and upper school students. She is a graduate from the<br />

Crane <strong>School</strong> of Music in Potsdam, New York with a Bachelors and Masters in Music Education<br />

(Instrumental) with a concentration in trumpet. She has instructed middle school and high school<br />

instrumental bands for 11 years and served as adjunct music instructor at SUNY Jefferson<br />

Community College and The University of South Carolina. She has conducted the Crane <strong>School</strong> of<br />

Music Symphonic Band and Trumpet Ensembles in New York, and many music festivals<br />

nationally. Liza has served on many committees and adjudicated all state festival auditions and<br />

high school marching band competitions throughout the east coast. She has also performed in<br />

numerous instrumental ensembles for over 15 years.<br />

Mr. Mike Harmon is a native of Columbia, South Carolina. Mr. Harmon earned his Bachelor of Arts<br />

in Psychology and Education from the University of South Carolina. Prior to starting his own<br />

business, Mr. Harmon worked at several educational institutions where he gained teaching<br />

experience across the board. He has been a part of the <strong>Hammond</strong> community as a teacher,<br />

coach, and host parent since 2007. He remains committed to providing programs designed to<br />

promote positive decision-making and character awareness for students of all ages.<br />

Mrs. Harrison attended the University of South Carolina for undergrad as well as graduate school.<br />

She received her Master of Arts in teaching degree in Elementary Education. She worked in<br />

Richland Lexington <strong>School</strong> District 5 as a literacy interventionist as well as taught 5 th and 3 rd<br />

grades. This is her fourth year at <strong>Hammond</strong> <strong>School</strong> as a 3 rd grade classroom teacher, and she<br />

continues to stay committed to her students. She looks forward to working with kids this summer<br />

and being a role model to younger girls and helping them build life-long skills and friendships.<br />

Coach Erik Kimrey<br />

Coach Erik Kimrey is entering his 10th season as Head Football Coach at <strong>Hammond</strong> school with a<br />

career record of 104 wins and only 11 losses. This past season, Coach Kimrey became the<br />

youngest and fastest coach to achieve 100 victories in the history of South Carolina football. He is<br />

also the only coach in our state to ever lead a team to 6 consecutive state championships. Coach<br />

Kimrey teaches Physical Education to lower school students and Philosophy of Religion to Juniors<br />

and Seniors.<br />

Ms. Bri Kinard is a graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology, in the <strong>School</strong> for American<br />

Crafts. She earned her Bachelors of Fine Arts and her Masters of Fine Arts from the University of<br />

Ms. Lucy Dunbar Kreiling is a PADI (Professional Association of Dive <strong>Instructors</strong>) Master Instructor<br />

who has been a full time instructor for 12 Years. She is the owner of Columbia Scuba which is<br />

your local PADI Five Star facility teaching students from beginner bubble blowers through<br />

instructor. Over the years she has been delighted to teach many <strong>Hammond</strong> Families at her facility<br />

and is excited to be a part of the summer camp program. Due to a desire to keep lower in-water<br />

ratios she is supported by Mr. Gary Kelly and Mrs. Sue Kelly. Mr. and Mrs. Kelly are an<br />

experienced and energetic husband and wife team who are both PADI Master Scuba Diver<br />

Trainers – they have been teaching at Columbia Scuba for 8 years and have a wealth of<br />

experience with Youth divers from their popular programs throughout the midlands.<br />

Mrs. Natasha Lorick is the owner of Wine and Design Columbia, an art instruction and<br />

entertainment studio located in the Forest Acres area of Columbia. She is an alumni of Winthrop<br />

University where she earned a degree in Political Science and a minor in Business Management.<br />

She worked in the insurance industry for 15 years prior to branching out to become a full time small<br />

business owner. Mrs. Lorick grew up in Charleston, SC where she developed a love for the Arts.<br />

Entering his tenth year as a teacher in the high school, Mr. Jody Lumpkin teaches math, is the<br />

Math Department Chair, and advises the Primitive Technology Club. After playing basketball at the<br />

College of Charleston and in Europe, he also coached the varsity basketball program for seven<br />

years. This is his tenth year of coaching the Little Hawk Sports Camp, and he is excited about this<br />

first year of Nature Camp that will utilize the great resources on our South Campus and in the<br />

Mr. Bernie McGuire retired as the Director of Tennis for the Richland County Recreation<br />

Commission after 32 years of service. He is certified as a tennis professional in the United States<br />

Professional Tennis Association and the Professional Tennis Registry. Mr. McGuire was inducted<br />

into the South Carolina Tennis Hall of Fame in 2000. He has been the Varsity Boys’ & Girls’<br />

Tennis Coach and has been associated with the Enrichment <strong>Programs</strong> at <strong>Hammond</strong> <strong>School</strong> since<br />

2009.<br />

Ms. Kristi McLendon<br />

Ballet Camp: A Magical Princess Journey Instructor<br />

Ms. Kristi McLendon is a native of Columbia, SC where she has danced for more than 20 years.<br />

Most of her dance training is in ballet, jazz, contemporary and hip-hop. Ms. McLendon was a<br />

member of Southern Strutt's Jazz Company located in Irmo, SC where she received most of her<br />

training. While there, she was given the opportunity to work with several choreographers, and<br />

travel the nation competing for numerous national titles. She is a graduate from the University of<br />

South Carolina where she earned her Bachelor of Arts from the <strong>School</strong> of Journalism and Mass<br />

Communications. While in college she was a member of USC's competition dance team, The<br />

Carolina Girls, and competed at NDA where her team placed in the top ten. Ms. McLendon has<br />

been an Enrichment Instructor teaching dance at <strong>Hammond</strong> <strong>School</strong> since 2011.<br />

Mrs. Joy McMillian has been around horses her entire life. She coached her own children, as well<br />

as friends, before becoming a full time coach at McMillion Farms in 2005. In 2008, Mrs. McMillion<br />

became the coach for the newly formed <strong>Hammond</strong> Western Equestrian team. She led many riders<br />

and teams to IEA National titles, and her own daughter, Cody McMillion, earned a scholarship to<br />

ride for the USC Equestrian team.<br />

basketball, softball, and football. Coach Myers has been a part of 2 basketball teams that received<br />

a 6th Grade AAU State Title, 5th Grade USBA National Title Runner-Up and a 6th Grade USBA<br />

National Title. In Coach Myers 2nd year at coaching at <strong>Hammond</strong> the Lady <strong>Hammond</strong> Skyhawks<br />

improved their record to 17 wins and 6 loses before falling in the Final Four of the SCISA Playoffs.<br />

Coach Adrian Pinasco is a native of Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he played soccer for<br />

professional club Boca Juniors. In 1998, he moved to the United States to enroll at University of<br />

South Carolina Columbia, where he finished his third Master’s degree in Exercise Science.<br />

Currently, Coach Adrian is the Head Soccer Coach / Lower <strong>School</strong> Physical Education Teacher at<br />

<strong>Hammond</strong> <strong>School</strong> for both girls and boys programs, and the Director of the Junior Academy<br />

Program at South Carolina United FC. In addition, he is a former two-time Assistant Coach with the<br />

Men’s Soccer Team at University of South Carolina from June 1999 to August 2001 and from<br />

August 2004 to June 2006, under Head Coach Mark Berson.<br />

Sherman has served as a Graduate Assistant teaching basic guitar classes. He also teaches guitar<br />

and it is the teacher’s responsibility to help the student relate to the material. As a performer, Mr.<br />

Sherman is a member of an up-and-coming guitar duo which was co-founded with guitarist, Andy<br />
