Mr. Kevin N. White
Director of Extended Day & Summer Programs

Mr. Kevin N. White graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts in
Psychology and minors in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education. He holds an
Educational Specialist degree, Masters of Education in Divergent Learning, and is currently
working on a Masters in Organizational Change and Leadership. Mr. White has worked with the
USC Child Development and Research Center in a variety of capacities including teaching,
administration, training programs for teachers and serving on the Advisory Board.

Hawk Ridge Full Day Camp Staff
Mr. David Booth recently relocated to Columbia from Clearwater, Florida. Mr. Booth completed his
Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies from Trinity College of Florida. He has earned his Master of
Arts in Theology, and is currently working on a Masters in Education at Columbia International
University. Mr. Booth serves as an Extended Day Teacher at Hammond throughout the school
year.
Mrs. Tari Goodwin

Mrs. Tari Goodwin is a native of Chester, SC. Mrs. Goodwin graduated from Claflin University
where she earned a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Childhood Development. Currently, Mrs.
Goodwin is pursuing her Master's degree in Organizational Change and Leadership from Columbia
College. She has over 8 years of classroom experience and enjoys the interactions with young
children. Mrs. Goodwin serves as a full-time Extended Day Teacher/ Summer Camp Coordinator
at Hammond throughout the school year.

Mrs. Elizabeth “Bibs” Babson is a Hammond parent and a graduate of Hammond School. Her
daughter is a sophomore at Hammond School and a varsity cheerleader. Her son is a recent
graduate of Hammond School and is a freshman at the University of South Carolina. Mrs. Babson
has earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Masters of Audiology from the University of South
Carolina.

Nurse Lobitz has her BSN from Loyola University, is a Certified Pediatric Nurse, has over 20 years
of experience and been the Hammond School Nurse for the last 7 years. She is an American Red
Cross Instructor and teaches CPR to Hammond faculty and staff every year. This summer Nurse
Lobitz will be coordinating the summer registration on Monday’s in the Upper School Gym.
Ms. Paige Perlich

Ms. Paige Perlich is a native of Lexington, SC. Ms. Perlich graduated from Lexington High School
and she is currently attending Midlands Technical College in the Surgical Technology program.
Taking care of people and helping people has always been important to her and she especially
enjoys taking care of and helping children. Ms. Perlich plans to specialize in pediatric surgery when
she begins her surgical technologist career. She is very excited to be at Hammond this summer!

Mrs. Carolyn Stoddard is has recently been appointed as the Director of College Counseling in the
Hammond Upper School. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from The Florida
State University Honors Program and her Master of Education in Higher Education and Student
Affairs from the University of South Carolina. Mrs. Stoddard worked in Undergraduate Admissions
and taught first-year courses at USC prior to her arrival at Hammond. Mrs. Stoddard has hosted
Hammond Summer Camps since 2011 and is excited to spend another week with little girls and
their little dolls!

Hawk Ridge Full Day Summer Theatre Productions
Mrs. Genevieve Alert graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts and a
Masters of Arts in Teaching Theatre. While working on her Masters, Mrs. Alert was an instructor at
the USC Drama Conservatory and Workshop Theatre teaching the fundamentals of drama to
elementary, middle, and high school students. For three consecutive summers, she served as the
Drama Director at the USC Children’s Center under the direction of Mr. Kevin White. Mrs. Alert
has been teaching theatre at Sandhills Middle School in Lexington 4 for the past six years. Her
service to her school includes Teacher of the Year 2011-2012 school year, a member of the School
Leadership and Accountability Team, a member of the District Teacher Cabinet, and a member of
the School Improvement Council. As a facilitator for the Tiger Pride Team, she coordinated a
professional learning community which focuses on school performances, student recognitions, and
school incentives. Mrs. Alert is very passionate about theatre education and fostering the love for
drama in young people. She is excited to work at Hammond this summer serving as the Director of
Summer Theatre for the Hawk Ridge Full Day Camp.

Mrs. Laura Clark has recently relocated to the Columbia area from Sumter with her husband and
four teenage sons. Mrs. Clark graduated from the University of Central Florida with her Bachelors
Degree in Science. Mrs. Clark has been teaching for ten years with the last six years focused in
Fine Arts and Performing Arts. She has directed over forty-eight productions in theatre, eight of
which were musicals. Mrs. Clark loves creating characters with special effects, make-up and
prosthetics and designing sets that help showcase her students. Her students under her direction
have won awards in both art and theatre including a state championship for high school and two
state runner-ups for middle school. She helped create and implement the SCISA State Drama
Festival. She has performed in productions at the Sumter Little Theatre as well as the Hartsville
Little Theatre where she won Best Performance for her portrayal of Penny in “You Can’t Take It
With You”. She loves sharing her enthusiasm and passion for the arts with her students. When she

isn’t knee deep in scripts, painting or working with students she loves spending time on the lake
with her husband and boys.

Mrs. Erika Cutler recently relocated to Columbia from Pittsburgh, PA, where she had a thriving
private violin and piano studio, and was an active performing violinist. Mrs. Cutler earned a
Bachelor's degree in Violin Performance from Indiana University in Bloomington and a Master’s
degree from Duquesne University.

Mr. Tyrus Goodwin is a native of Trenton, SC. He attended Claflin University where he received a
Bachelor of Arts in Music Education with a concentration in voice. Mr. Goodwin taught for six years
in Orangeburg District Four and Richland One public schools. Currently, he is a vocal coach and
piano instructor at GMG Music School and an Assistant Director of Music at International Praise,
Elgin SC.

Mrs. Cynthia Creech earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Columbia College and a Master’s
Degree from the University of South Carolina. In addition to a background in elementary
education, she has specialized in developing and implementing technology enriched curriculums

for elementary children. Mrs. Creech has focused on the inclusion of iPads at Hammond, working
with students as they use technology to enhance their overall learning experiences.

Mr. Michael Frank is a school teacher and owner and lead guide of Frank’s Fly Arts guide service
in Columbia, SC. Frank’s Fly Arts came about as a result of his desire to combine his teaching
skills and passion for fly fishing and the aquatic environment. He offers fly tying instruction, fly
fishing summer camps, and some of the most unique guided fly fishing trips in the Southeast where
you can catch trout, smallmouth, largemouth, and striped bass all in the same trip!

Mrs. Renee Adams is a native of South Carolina and a Hammond graduate. She attended
Columbia College where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education. Mrs. Adams
worked in the Hammond Extended Day program for two years before staying home to start a
family. After nine years at home, she returned to Hammond as a kindergarten assistant where she
has enjoyed teaching with Mrs. Kelly Derrick for the last eight years.

Mr. Michael Bank is a fourth degree black belt who has made enhancing his students’ agility,
flexibility, stamina, reflexes, and strength, his life’s passion. He found that such training has several
beneficial side effects, including increased self-confidence, self-discipline, and mental focus. Mr.
Bank holds a Bachelor of Science in Business, Criminal Justice, and Sports Coaching from the
University of South Carolina. He has served six years at McEntire Joint National Guard Station with
the 169th Security Forces Squadron. Mr. Bank was recognized for his work as a Martial Arts

Instructor with the US Air Force. Mr. Bank has been an Enrichment Instructor at Hammond School
since 2006.

Mrs. Pam Boggs is a native of North Augusta, South Carolina. She graduated from the University
of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education. Mrs. Boggs was a scholarship
varsity cheerleader at the University of South Carolina and earned the Most Spirited award. She
has over 23 years of experience teaching recreational cheerleading and tumbling classes and
camps to students all across South Carolina. Mrs. Boggs has served as a judge at cheerleading
competitions on local, state, national and international levels. In addition, she is a fitness
enthusiast and wishes to spread her love for physical fitness to children, showing them that
exercise can be fun and rewarding!

Mr. George Bryan III is a PGA Professional, and the founder and Director of Instruction at George
Bryan Golf Academy. He is a graduate of the University of South Carolina. Mr. Bryan was named
1998 Carolinas’ PGA Junior Golf Leader of the Year and selected by Golf Digest as one of the Best
Teachers in South Carolina for 2000 and 2001. He earned SC PGA Chapter Player of the Year
honors in 2003 and played in the 1999 PGA Championship at Medinah and the 2004 MCI Heritage.

Mr. Chase Butler graduated from North Greenville College in May of 2006 and Spartanburg
Methodist College in 2003. He was a student of the George Bryan Golf Academy for 15 years,
enrolling when he was 8 years old! Mr. Butler has won the BMW Collegiate Championship and a
number of junior championships. He is an Apprentice Golf Professional in the PGA of America, and
his goal is to be a world class player and golf instructor!

Mr. Bob Crabb is a certified USPTA and PTR tennis instructor. Mr. Crabb taught tennis at the
Richland County Tennis Center from 1978-2008. He was the tennis coach at Spring Valley and
Richland Northeast from 1971-1987. Mr. Crabb was the South Carolina High School Tennis Coach

of the Year in 1981. He has worked with both the Hammond School tennis teams and Enrichment
Program since 2009.

Mrs. Elizabeth Dorn is the Area Director for Lango/ BBM Academy and has facilitated their Lango
programs for 3 years. All of the teachers are trained in the Lango technique. Many are native
speakers and all have gone through a language evaluation for proficiency.

Ms. Lauren Eynon has been teaching in the Hammond Lower School since 2010 as a teaching
assistant in the kindergarten. As a Columbia, SC native, Ms. Eynon is a graduate of Hammond
School, which makes it a pleasure to return and teach here. She graduated from the University of
South Carolina where she earned a teaching degree in Early Childhood Education. She is
presently working on her Masters in Language and Literacy at the University of South Carolina and
will finish in the spring of 2014. Ms. Eynon has worked for years in the Hammond Summer
Program and successfully led “Pinkalicious” for the past two summers.

Mrs. Logan Fowles grew up in Columbia and graduated from the University of South Carolina with
a B.A. in Psychology and Child Development. She obtained her Children’s Yoga Certification, with
an emphasis on ages 3-12, from the Asheville Yoga Center. In addition to teaching weekly
children’s yoga classes, Mrs. Fowles is an Assistant Cheerleading Coach at Hammond School and
a preschool teacher at Shandon United Methodist Preschool.

Ms. Garbowski Garbowski has been involved in language instruction since 1986. She has a
Bachelor of Science in Spanish Education and a Master’s of Education in Educational Studies.
She was initially trained in the Rassias Method of language instruction and began teaching
language labs as an undergraduate student. Through studying and teaching many methods of
language instruction, Ms. Garbowski has developed a unique approach to language teaching and a
keen understanding of language learning.

Ms. Jamie Gibbs is a PhD Candidate at the University of South Carolina specializing in 19 th
Century British Literature. As an instructor of record for the First Year English Department, Ms.
Gibbs is responsible for teaching both introductory English courses for incoming students (ENGL
101 and ENGL 102). In her spare time, if such a thing exists, she is actively engaged with the
creative writing community, enjoys photography, paper crafts, board games, video games, movies,
sewing and a plethora of other crafty-type-things.
Mrs. Liza Graham

Mrs. Liza Graham is in her 6th year of teaching at Hammond School as director of bands, an
instrumental band program for middle and upper school students. She is a graduate from the
Crane School of Music in Potsdam, New York with a Bachelors and Masters in Music Education
(Instrumental) with a concentration in trumpet. She has instructed middle school and high school
instrumental bands for 11 years and served as adjunct music instructor at SUNY Jefferson
Community College and The University of South Carolina. She has conducted the Crane School of
Music Symphonic Band and Trumpet Ensembles in New York, and many music festivals
nationally. Liza has served on many committees and adjudicated all state festival auditions and
high school marching band competitions throughout the east coast. She has also performed in
numerous instrumental ensembles for over 15 years.

Mr. Mike Harmon is a native of Columbia, South Carolina. Mr. Harmon earned his Bachelor of Arts
in Psychology and Education from the University of South Carolina. Prior to starting his own
business, Mr. Harmon worked at several educational institutions where he gained teaching
experience across the board. He has been a part of the Hammond community as a teacher,
coach, and host parent since 2007. He remains committed to providing programs designed to
promote positive decision-making and character awareness for students of all ages.

Mrs. Harrison attended the University of South Carolina for undergrad as well as graduate school.
She received her Master of Arts in teaching degree in Elementary Education. She worked in
Richland Lexington School District 5 as a literacy interventionist as well as taught 5 th and 3 rd
grades. This is her fourth year at Hammond School as a 3 rd grade classroom teacher, and she
continues to stay committed to her students. She looks forward to working with kids this summer
and being a role model to younger girls and helping them build life-long skills and friendships.

Coach Erik Kimrey is entering his 10th season as Head Football Coach at Hammond school with a
career record of 104 wins and only 11 losses. This past season, Coach Kimrey became the
youngest and fastest coach to achieve 100 victories in the history of South Carolina football. He is
also the only coach in our state to ever lead a team to 6 consecutive state championships. Coach
Kimrey teaches Physical Education to lower school students and Philosophy of Religion to Juniors
and Seniors.

Ms. Bri Kinard is a graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology, in the School for American
Crafts. She earned her Bachelors of Fine Arts and her Masters of Fine Arts from the University of
South Carolina. Ms. Kinard is interested in the everyday mundane that she then exploits and
transforms into a dramatic reality. A simple water stain or piece of rust catches her attention and
then the creative process begins.

Ms. Lucy Dunbar Kreiling is a PADI (Professional Association of Dive Instructors) Master Instructor
who has been a full time instructor for 12 Years. She is the owner of Columbia Scuba which is
your local PADI Five Star facility teaching students from beginner bubble blowers through
instructor. Over the years she has been delighted to teach many Hammond Families at her facility
and is excited to be a part of the summer camp program. Due to a desire to keep lower in-water
ratios she is supported by Mr. Gary Kelly and Mrs. Sue Kelly. Mr. and Mrs. Kelly are an
experienced and energetic husband and wife team who are both PADI Master Scuba Diver
Trainers – they have been teaching at Columbia Scuba for 8 years and have a wealth of
experience with Youth divers from their popular programs throughout the midlands.

Mrs. Natasha Lorick is the owner of Wine and Design Columbia, an art instruction and
entertainment studio located in the Forest Acres area of Columbia. She is an alumni of Winthrop
University where she earned a degree in Political Science and a minor in Business Management.
She worked in the insurance industry for 15 years prior to branching out to become a full time small
business owner. Mrs. Lorick grew up in Charleston, SC where she developed a love for the Arts.

She has two beautiful daughters ages 3 and 10 and her vision is to have Wine and Design be a
way for the community to express their creativity in a FUN and exciting new way.

Entering his tenth year as a teacher in the high school, Mr. Jody Lumpkin teaches math, is the
Math Department Chair, and advises the Primitive Technology Club. After playing basketball at the
College of Charleston and in Europe, he also coached the varsity basketball program for seven
years. This is his tenth year of coaching the Little Hawk Sports Camp, and he is excited about this
first year of Nature Camp that will utilize the great resources on our South Campus and in the
immediate community.

Coach Bernie McGuire

Mr. Bernie McGuire retired as the Director of Tennis for the Richland County Recreation
Commission after 32 years of service. He is certified as a tennis professional in the United States
Professional Tennis Association and the Professional Tennis Registry. Mr. McGuire was inducted
into the South Carolina Tennis Hall of Fame in 2000. He has been the Varsity Boys’ & Girls’
Tennis Coach and has been associated with the Enrichment Programs at Hammond School since
2009.
Ms. Kristi McLendon
Ballet Camp: A Magical Princess Journey Instructor
Ms. Kristi McLendon is a native of Columbia, SC where she has danced for more than 20 years.
Most of her dance training is in ballet, jazz, contemporary and hip-hop. Ms. McLendon was a
member of Southern Strutt's Jazz Company located in Irmo, SC where she received most of her
training. While there, she was given the opportunity to work with several choreographers, and
travel the nation competing for numerous national titles. She is a graduate from the University of
South Carolina where she earned her Bachelor of Arts from the School of Journalism and Mass
Communications. While in college she was a member of USC's competition dance team, The
Carolina Girls, and competed at NDA where her team placed in the top ten. Ms. McLendon has
been an Enrichment Instructor teaching dance at Hammond School since 2011.

Mr. Bradley McMillian graduated the University of South Carolina's Moore School of Business Cum
Laude in 2006 and Charleston School of law in 2011. He is a member of the South Carolina Bar
and currently works in the Public Defender's office for the Second Judicial Circuit.

Mrs. Joy McMillian has been around horses her entire life. She coached her own children, as well
as friends, before becoming a full time coach at McMillion Farms in 2005. In 2008, Mrs. McMillion
became the coach for the newly formed Hammond Western Equestrian team. She led many riders
and teams to IEA National titles, and her own daughter, Cody McMillion, earned a scholarship to
ride for the USC Equestrian team.

Coach Roshan Myers graduated from Ferrum College in Ferrum, Virgina. He began his coaching
career at Heathwood Hall and has coached many youth recreational sports such as baseball,
basketball, softball, and football. Coach Myers has been a part of 2 basketball teams that received
a 6th Grade AAU State Title, 5th Grade USBA National Title Runner-Up and a 6th Grade USBA
National Title. In Coach Myers 2nd year at coaching at Hammond the Lady Hammond Skyhawks
improved their record to 17 wins and 6 loses before falling in the Final Four of the SCISA Playoffs.

Ms. Sarah Osborne is a native of Florence, South Carolina. She relocated to Columbia 3 years
ago to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from the University of South Carolina.
Ms. Osborne plans to attend Physical Therapy School after she graduates from the University of
South Carolina in 2014.

Coach Adrian Pinasco is a native of Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he played soccer for
professional club Boca Juniors. In 1998, he moved to the United States to enroll at University of
South Carolina Columbia, where he finished his third Master’s degree in Exercise Science.
Currently, Coach Adrian is the Head Soccer Coach / Lower School Physical Education Teacher at
Hammond School for both girls and boys programs, and the Director of the Junior Academy
Program at South Carolina United FC. In addition, he is a former two-time Assistant Coach with the
Men’s Soccer Team at University of South Carolina from June 1999 to August 2001 and from
August 2004 to June 2006, under Head Coach Mark Berson.

Mrs. Noel Schuch has been committed to challenging students in seventh grade English at
Hammond School since 1997. She enjoys both interacting with the adolescent age group and
introducing the demanding curriculum. As a former student-athlete, she recognizes the value of
extracurricular activities. Mrs. Schuch also coaches the girls’ cross country team.
Mr. Devin Sherman

Mr. Sherman holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Business from Mansfield University of
Pennsylvania where he studied the guitar with Dr. Matthew Slotkin. He is currently pursuing his
Master’s degree in Guitar Performance at USC, studying with Christopher Berg. At USC, Mr.
Sherman has served as a Graduate Assistant teaching basic guitar classes. He also teaches guitar
at Columbia Arts Academy. His teaching philosophy is built on the belief that everyone can learn,
and it is the teacher’s responsibility to help the student relate to the material. As a performer, Mr.
Sherman is a member of an up-and-coming guitar duo which was co-founded with guitarist, Andy
Jurik.

Ms. Lacey Stern was born and raised in Irmo, South Carolina. She began to dance at the age of 5
and studied dance for 10 years at the Southern Strutt Dance Studio under the direction of Nancy
Giles. Ms. Stern graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Science in
Exercise Science with an emphasis in Public Health. While attending USC, Ms. Stern was a
member of the Carolina Girls dance team and the Carolina Coquettes dance team. Ms. Stern has
been an Enrichment Instructor at Hammond School since 2010.

Mrs. Jen Stowe earned her Bachelor of Arts in English: Secondary Education at Bryan College in
Dayton, Tennessee. Mrs. Stowe went on to complete her Master of Arts in English at the
University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She has been teaching British Literature and Advanced
Language and Composition at Hammond School since 2008 and is the faculty sponsor of the
student newspaper and the Harry Potter Club.

Coach Amanda Swenson is a Columbia native and graduate of Ben Lippen high school. She was a
scholarship Varsity cheerleader at Liberty University. Coach Swenson has 6 years of Varsity cheer
coaching experience and is currently Varsity cheerleading coach at Hammond School. She is
AACCA certified and NFHS certified cheer and dance coach.

Mrs. Kris Teeter attended Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan and earned her Bachelor of
Arts in Elementary Education with minors in Math and Art. She taught fourth grade for 6 years in
Charlotte, North Carolina and has been teaching fourth grade at Hammond School for 15 years.
She enjoys traveling, reading, and doing crafts in her spare time.

Mrs. Traci Waite has been a teacher at Hammond School for 17 years. In that time she has taught
Pre-Kindergarten and has been a part of the Kindergarten Team for the past 13 years. Mrs. Waite
is a graduate of Converse College with a double major in Elementary and Early Childhood
Education. She loves being a part of the Hammond community. She enjoys teaching, and spending
time with her family.

Dr. Muriel Wallace is an educator who has worked as a teacher, guidance counselor, administrator
and instructional coordinator. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work from
Tuskegee University, Master of Education in School Counseling from Georgia Southern University,
Master of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of South Carolina and PhD in
Education with a specialization in Curriculum and Development from Capella University.
Dr. Wallace has always been motivated by helping people reach their full potential. She has a
special place in her heart for children. She is passionate about expanding their opportunities by
providing educational and life experiences that will make them knowledgeable and confident
enough to knock on any door that will help take them to their next level of success.

Mrs. Robyn Foulks-Washington has been teaching in Richland District One for the past 7 years.
She received her Master’s Degree in Education, with an emphasis on Montessori Education from
Lander University. Mrs. Washington is the Lead Science Teacher for Logan Elementary and
teaches 1 st - 3rd grade science to all Lower Elementary students. She has judged several
elementary school science fairs and region fairs.

Coach Angie Wolff has been coaching volleyball since 1999. For 5 years she was
the Volleyball Camp Coordinator and a coach for the University of South Carolina Gamecocks.
She has also served as the volleyball strength and conditioning coach and summer camp director
for Hammond School. Coach Wolff loves volleyball and enjoys any opportunity to share her
passion with her student athletes.
