Singapore Airshow 2012 attracts record
visitorship to its biggest ever edition
Singapore Airshow, Asia’s largest and one of the three most
important aerospace and defence exhibitions in the world, drew
a record number of trade and public visitors at this year’s edition.
Singapore Airshow 2012, which was held from 14 to 19 February
2012, at the Changi Exhibition Centre, hosted the products and
services of some 900 exhibitors from 50 countries and attracted
some 145,000 visitors.
Visitorship over the four trade days from 14 to 17 February
totalled nearly 45,000 from 128 countries/regions, with over
30% coming from overseas. Singapore Airshow 2012 also
played host to 266 top level delegations (the largest number
ever) from over 80 countries.
Trade days generate record value of deals
Singapore Airshow 2012 emphasised its role as the platform of
choice for industry leaders, government and military delegations
to network and conduct business, with over US$ 31 billion
worth of deals announced. This represents a three-fold increase
over the total value of deals announced in 2010 and reaffirms
Singapore Airshow’s position as a must-attend event in the
global aerospace and defence industry calendar.
Major announcements include contracts for Boeing, Airbus, Pratt
& Whitney, CFM and ATR.
Sell-out crowds on public days
Tickets for the public day weekend over 18 and 19 February,
were completely sold out, and Changi Exhibition Centre, the
Airshow site, saw some 100,000 visitors over the two days,
Singapore Airshow 2012 welcomed ministers, senior government representatives,
chiefs of defence forces and service chiefs, and industry leaders at an opening
ceremony and welcome reception held on the night of 13 February, at Sands
Ballroom, Marina Bay Sands. The Guest of Honour, Mr Teo Chee Hean, Deputy
Prime Minister, Co-ordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home
Affairs, officially opened Singapore Airshow 2012.
who were treated to breathtaking aerial displays and had the
opportunity to view an impressive array of aircraft in the static
display areas.
“Singapore Airshow 2012 has been a success for everyone. We
have set a new record for the value of deals announced, as well
as the number of visitors on both trade and public days. As a
testament to the show’s achievements, over 70% of exhibitors
have already reaffirmed their commitment to take up exhibition
