Mmm, mmm good! Eating and drinking keep us alive,
but they’re also wonderful. Imagine delicious kitchen
smells tickling your nose, sweet ice cream melting on
your tongue, food sizzling in a pan and making your
mouth water as you plunge your hands into cookie
dough, and a table overflowing with munchables. It’s
a feast for all five senses. In this exhibition, kids learn
what makes us full and keeps us healthy, what kind of
nutrients the body needs, what food has to do with
movement, where our food comes from, and which
ingredients are in favorite foods like noodles and
french fries.
Hands-On Urbanism
1850 – 2012. The
Right to Green
thru Jun 25
Alte Halle
The spring exhibition at Architekturzentrum Wien takes
a look at the ideological history of urban settlement.
Curator Elke Krasny presents historic and contemporary
case studies exemplifying bottom-up urban development
around the world. She provides an overview of
self-organized, informal movements and the spaces
created as a consequence. “Hands-On Urbanism 1850
– 2012” introduces a different history of urbanism that
poses urgent questions relating to the responsibility of
architects and planners and use of resources. How can
we learn from this kind of bottom-up urban history,
and how do architects act in these processes?
Blue Lady is a production that has taken on mythical
proportions, leaving unforgettable images in the minds
of audiences around the world. Tanzquartier Wien is
staging a new version in which the American star choreographer
transfers the piece, first created in 1983,
to a different person – in a male body. In “Blue Lady
[revisited]” dancer Jacky Berger reinvents the poetic
exploration of the changing stages and horizons of
human life with sensitivity and passion, infusing
Carolyn Carlson’s complex and mature language of
movement with a riveting sense of contemporaneity.
