We have been deeply touched by the many expressions of<br />

gratitude, regret and good wishes which we have received following<br />

the announcement that BACKHlLL will cease to be publisbed.<br />

The reaction that we have witnessed has caused us to reflect<br />

further and, without making, any promises, we are seriously<br />

considering publishing BACKHlLL a couple of times a year<br />

(possibly for the Procession and Christmas).<br />

In the meantime, out heartfelt thanks to our readers, writers,<br />

advertisers and distributers for such wonderful support over the past<br />

21 years.<br />

·1 really feel I must tell you how sad I was to bear that our friendly family magazine BackhiU is coming to an end.<br />

It will most certainly be missed by everyone because over the years it has given so much pleasure to so many people.<br />

I for one always enjoyed everythinng about it from Padre Russo's Due Parole to Mamma's Ricetta. However, I am<br />

sure everyone (like me) will undcrstand the situation which has been well explained.<br />

A big ·Thank you· to you all for your very hard voluntary work in keeping Backbill going so well, for so long.<br />

•... It is with particular sadness and dismay that we read from the November issue of BackbiU that next month's wiU<br />

indeed be the last. It is with much admiration of the achievement of all in the publication of the rivista that has given<br />

me and countless others such much pleasure to read since first publisbed ovcr twenty years ago. .<br />

The journal has been uuique and authentic in dcmonstrating the ways and traditions of the Italian people bere in<br />

England many of whom no doubt descend from thc early immigrants of the late nineteenth century. Backhill to mc has<br />

devoted so much and laboured so hard with dedication in promoting friendship and knowledge of the life in the early<br />

days of the "Hill". We of course will appreciate the great contribution that our English friends have made to the<br />

publication of Backhill also.<br />
