Born in Woodstock, 111., March 21, 1896. Attended
public and high schools of Woodstock
and School of Commerce at Chicago. World War
I veteran, served with American Expeditionary
forces in France and Germany. In business in
Des Moines until 1923; in Los Angeles, Calif.,
until 1932; engaged in Cooperage Manufacturing
business in Keokuk at present time.. Married
June 12, 1929, to Kathryn Brown Pyle of Keokuk;
children, Marilyn and Stanley Lawrence
II. Member American Legion and Keokuk Rotary
Club. Elected to fill vacancy in Senate in
1937; re-elected in 1938 and 1942; serving in the
47th, 48th, 49th, 50th, 50th extra, and President
Pro Tempore in 51st General Assemblies.
HARVEY, Robert W., Missouri Valley
Republican
34th Senatorial District—Crawford, Harrison and
Monona Counties.
Born in Magnolia, Harrison County, Iowa,
February 10, 1875. Moved to Logan in 1877; graduated
from the Logan high school. Graduated
from the State University of Iowa, college of
pharmacy, in 1897. Has owned and operated
his own drug store in Missouri Valley for 46
years. President of Druggists' Mutual Insurance
Company, past president Iowa Pharmaceutical
Association, member of the Masonic Lodge, Kiwanis
Club. Married Vera Foss of Missouri
Valley in 1907 and has one son, G. Edward.
Serving fourth session in the state senate.
HAWKINS, R. B., Leon
Republican
5th Senatorial District—Decatur, Ringgold and
Union Counties.
Born May 6, 1885, Des Moines, Iowa; moved to
Decatur county with parents, 1896. Graduated
from high school 1904; Drake University, Des
Moines, 1907 and 1909. Admitted to Iowa Bar
1907. Devoted several years to farming and
farm investments. Entered active practice of law
in Leon, 1925. County Attorney 1925-29. Since
that time engaged in the general practice of law.
Married Eva Keister of Des Moines. 1912, who is
now deceased, having passed away in 1935. Remarried
in 1939 to Georgia Doolin Netherton of
Gallatin, Mo. A Mason, Odd Fellow and past
president of the Leon Rotary Club. Member of
the House in the 50th General Assembly. Elected
to Senate in 1944.
