Son of John F. and Mary C. Hoblit Ritchie.
Came to Cherokee county as a child in 1882 and
has subsequently resided there. Married February
11, 1905, to Mary Layton of Cherokee, Iowa.
One daughter, Lois D., and one son, Kenneth L.
Has served three terms in the House. Now
serving first term in the Senate. A farmer. A
Mason. A Republican.
ROCKHILL, Robert A., Marshalltown Republican
28th Senatorial District—Marshall County
Born at Larchwood, Iowa, November 24, 1894.
Educated in Larchwood Public School, State
University of Iowa, B.A., 1920; L.L.B. 1923. Entered
the practice of law at Marshalltown, 1923.
Married in 1928 to Velda M. Fox of Cedar
Rapids. Has two daughters, Dorothy Ellen and
Romaine Adel. Commissioned 2nd Lt. August,
1917, at First Officers' Training Camp, Fort
Snelling, Minn. Served overseas 14 months. Reserve
officer since 1927. Called to duty in World
War II, March 2, 1942, as Captain. Served at Reception
Center, Fort Snelling, Minn. Promoted
to rank of Major, April, 1943. Placed on inactive
duty, June, 1944. City Solicitor, Marshalltown,
1927-1933. Member of American Legion, Masons,
Congregational Church, Rotary International,
Delta Theta Phi, Marshall County, Iowa State
and American Bar Associations, Board of Directors
of Marshall County Red Cross and Marshalltown

SCHLUTER, Edwin C.

Jackson Counties.
Born in Massillon township, Cedar county,
Iowa, July 15, 1887, son of Ernest and Caroline
Schluter. Was graduated from the Clarence
high school. Received B.A. degree from the
State University of Iowa, including one year
study in the College of Law. Served as Deputy
Clerk of the District Court two years. Later
operated farms and lumber business. Married
Myrtie Brink, Clarence, Iowa, in 1915. Completed
study of law and admitted to practice
in 1931. Served as Republican county chairman
of Cedar county for eight years. Member of
Cedar county and Iowa State Bar Associations.
Elected to Iowa Senate in 1942 to fill vacancy
caused by the resignation of Senator M. C.
Hamiel. Re-elected in new 23rd District in 1944.
