“Nicolae Bălcescu” Land Forces Academy Index Study in LFA Sibiu a. Requirements before your departure Visa requirements Before you depart for Romania certain documents will be necessary. You need a valid passport or ID for entry into Romania. In some cases a visa is also required. However, citizens of EU countries and some of the countries of the EEA need only an ID card provided that their citizenship is stated on the card. For further information, in order to clarify if you need visa or not , please contact the Romanian Embassy or Consulate in your country. Please consult http://mae.ro/en/romanian-missions for addresses and office hours of Romanian embassies and consulates. For stays in Romania longer than three months, it is compulsory to obtain a RESIDENCE PERMIT, which will be issued to the students by Romanian authorities upon their arrival. Application process for international students: Foreign citizens could apply for studies in “Nicolae Bălcescu” Land Forces Academy only with approval of the Romanian Ministry of National Defence, based on bilateral agreements between our university and student’s home university. The following application papers are requested: • Application form (filled in 2 copies); • Certified copy of the Baccalaureate Diploma or equivalent - for undergraduate studies; • Certified copy of the graduation certificate - for postgraduate applicants; • Academic record translated into Romanian, English; • Language certificate; • Certified copy of the Birth Certificate; • Certified copy of the passport; • Medical certificate. Application process for Erasmus students - the following application papers are requested: • Student Application Form • Learning Agreement or Training Agreement All documents can be found on our web site at the following address: http://www.armyacademy.ro/english/erasmus/Index.html Make sure that all your forms are SIGNED by you and the responsible of your university. Send the scanned documents to the following e-mail address: erasmus@armyacademy.ro. If you cannot send the forms by e-mail, you can also use post or fax. When we receive all the forms, they will be checked and signed by the Erasmus Coordinator from our academy. We will send the Letter of Acceptance by e-mail and by post. The procedure will take 4 – 6 weeks. During the holidays it can take longer !!! Arriving and getting settled By air The air connections of the city are ensured by the Sibiu International Airport, located on national road DN1, at 3 kilometres from the city. http://www.sibiuairport.ro/ Sibiu International Airport Address: 73 Alba Iulia Street Flight information center: +40 269 253 135 By car Sibiu is passed by two major European roads: E 68 (Arad - Sibiu - Brasov) and E 81 (Cluj - Sibiu - Pitesti - Bucuresti). Check here the road route: www.distanta.ro By train Please check: http://www.cfrcalatori.ro/ By bus There are several international transportation companies that drive to Sibiu, such as: Eurolines, Atlasib, Tavi Raisen, Pletl, Amad Touristik, Trans Europa. Just search the names on Google and you will find local representatives in different countries. www.autogari.ro How to get to Sibiu Study in LFA Our recommendation for students is to arrive at LFA one day before the course starts and depart one day after the end of the course. Facilities provided to international students: • Accommodation will be provided in the Land Forces Academy buildings. • All meals are provided with non-alcoholic beverages at the LFA cafeteria. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are available and have to be booked 24 hours in advance. • Internet access will be available. • Access to University libraries • Special areas for the smokers • Hairdresser’s within university premises • Gyms and sports on the university premises • Orthodox church service on the university premises • Medical centre on the university premises • The electric power is 220V, 50Hz AC • Psyhological Assistance Index 13
