Stereotyping in schools particularly affects girls, disabled young people,<br />
children from lower socio-economic backgrounds <strong>and</strong> those from some ethnic<br />
minority groups. 59 Stereotypical information <strong>and</strong> guidance can limit young<br />
people’s options <strong>and</strong> aspirations at an early age. 60 Careers advice often reinforces<br />
traditional choices <strong>and</strong> young people have no information on the pay advantages<br />
of non-traditional routes. 61 Nearly 1 in 5 (18%) of young people say that they have<br />
not had enough information to make choices for their future. This rises to 23% of<br />
disabled young people. 62<br />
