Community Comments and Ranking of Priorities March 7, 2011<br />
Following a brief introduction and review of the first Quality of Life Focus Group community and stakeholder<br />
comments, the consulting team asked the focus group participants to provide a listing of desired quality of life activities<br />
(short or long term). Each of the 21 participants was given the opportunity to vote for two activities they would like to<br />
see for <strong>Hardee</strong> <strong>County</strong>. The activities included:<br />
• Sidewalks – improved transportation and connectivity<br />
• High speed internet/continued technology improvements<br />
• Impacts of/perception of illegal aliens, immigration (i.e., <strong>Hardee</strong> <strong>County</strong> viewed as a sanctuary)<br />
• Enhance/create a vibrant downtown<br />
• Planning for mining reclamation – including <strong>County</strong> benefits/uses<br />
• Community beautification/code enforcement/improve image<br />
• Opportunities for youth/family recreation<br />
• Diversify restaurants/evening entertainment<br />
• Celebrate/provide faith based activities<br />
• <strong>Hardee</strong> Lakes – continued improvement<br />
• Aviation Business/Services (improved/expanded – general aviation, commercial, international)<br />
