Scholarship, Loan and Endowment Funds<br />
The information contained herein is presented in<br />
grateful appreciation of those who have given generously<br />
to provide funds to students at <strong>Harding</strong>.<br />
Not all scholarships listed have funds available.<br />
Students applying for admission are automatically considered<br />
for most scholarships for which funds are still<br />
available. Information about new scholarships, scholarships<br />
requiring a separate application, and other<br />
sources of scholarship funds is available on the Office<br />
of Student Financial Services’ Web site, located at<br />
www.harding.edu/finaid, or by contacting the office at<br />
(501) 279-4257.<br />
SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS<br />
SETH ELWOOD ADAMS MEMORIAL SCHOLAR-<br />
SHIP: Established by family and friends in memory of<br />
Seth Adams of Fayetteville for full-time students.<br />
AGAPE SCHOLARSHIP FUND: Established by Ken<br />
and Martha Norton to benefit full-time students with financial<br />
need.<br />
AILEEN ALEXANDER SCHOLARSHIP FUND: Established<br />
by Thurman Alexander to benefit students who demonstrate<br />
leadership and diligence and have a financial need.<br />
THURMAN AND RUBY ALEXANDER ENDOWED<br />
SCHOLARSHIP FUND: Established for full-time students<br />
who demonstrate leadership, diligence, capability and<br />
financial need.<br />
AMERICAN FOUNDERS SCHOLARSHIP FUND:<br />
Established by the American Founders Insurance Company<br />
of Austin, Texas. Awarded on the basis of scholarship and need.<br />
IRIS ANDREWS SCHOLARSHIP FUND: Established<br />
by Ken and Amy Stamatis in honor of Iris Andrews. Special<br />
preference will be given to full-time students in the M.Ed.<br />
Reading Program.<br />
ARTHUR ANDERSEN ACCOUNTING SCHOLAR-<br />
SHIP FUND: Established by <strong>Harding</strong> alumni employed by<br />
Arthur Andersen. Open to students at the junior and senior<br />
level who are majoring in accounting.<br />
KENNETH PAUL ARD MEMORIAL FUND: Established<br />
by the family of Kenneth Paul Ard. Provides grants<br />
to Chorus members for participation in summer campaigns.<br />
ASSOCIATED WOMEN FOR HARDING ENDOWED<br />
SCHOLARSHIP FOR HARDING GRADUATE<br />
SCHOOL OF RELIGION: Established for the specific purpose<br />
of providing financial aid to U.S. male citizens majoring<br />
in preaching and missions in the <strong>Harding</strong> Graduate<br />
School of Religion.<br />
ASSOCIATED WOMEN FOR HARDING NEED-<br />
BASED SCHOLARSHIP: Established through the fundraising<br />
activities of AWH chapters throughout the nation.<br />
Aids freshman students.<br />
S.A. (LUM) AND IRMA N. ATKISON ENDOWED<br />
SCHOLARSHIP FUND: Established for children of missionaries<br />
(missionaries shall be defined in the broadest sense,<br />
as United States or foreign), children from children’s homes<br />
and students in need.<br />
E.B. BAGGETT MEMORIAL MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP:<br />
Established by the family and friends of the late Elmer B.<br />
Baggett for members of both the Band and either the<br />
Concert Choir or the Chorus.<br />
LUCIEN BAGNETTO ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP<br />
FUND: Established by the family and friends of Lucien<br />
Bagnetto for chemistry or biochemistry majors who have<br />
demonstrated a Christian servant attitude.<br />
BAKER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND: Established<br />
by Donna Baker Barlar of Nashville, Tenn., in memory<br />
of her parents, Asa and Mary Ann Morton Baker, for<br />
Christian young men who plan to preach or teach the<br />
Gospel.<br />
J.D. AND MARY BALES SCHOLARSHIP FUND: Established<br />
to provide financial assistance to families who have<br />
two or more children attending <strong>Harding</strong> simultaneously.<br />
T.H. BARTON SCHOLARSHIP FUND: Established by<br />
Colonel T.H. Barton of El Dorado, Ark.<br />
CHARLIE AND NADINE BAUM ENDOWED<br />
SCHOLARSHIP FUND: Established by the Baum family<br />
to assist academically average students from middle-income<br />
families who have difficulty obtaining financial aid.<br />
LOU ANNA McNEIL BAWCOM ENDOWED SCHOL-<br />
ARSHIP FUND: Established for students majoring in missions<br />
and who, in good faith, plan to work full time in the<br />
mission field upon graduation. Second preference shall be<br />
given to Bible majors.<br />
MILDRED L. BELL FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCI-<br />
ENCES SCHOLARSHIP FUND: Established by faculty,<br />
friends, and family members as a tribute to Dr. Mildred L.<br />
Bell, Chairman of the <strong>Harding</strong> <strong>University</strong> Family and Consumer<br />
Sciences Department from <strong>195</strong>9-1984.<br />
Z. BENSKY SCHOLARSHIP FUND: Established by Z.<br />
Bensky of Little Rock, Ark., to provide scholarship aid for<br />
a student in dramatics.<br />
MARGUERITE O’BANION BENSON ENDOWMENT<br />
SCHOLARSHIP FUND: Established at the Graduate<br />
School of Religion for outstanding young men who are<br />
preparing for the ministry.<br />
HENRY ANDREW BISSELL AND TABITHA BISSELL<br />
ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP FUND FOR PREACH-<br />
ING: Established by Ruth Jewell Owen in memory of Henry<br />
Andrew and Tabitha Bissell to provide scholarships to stu-
