Pinker’s lexical rule approach
The lexical rule takes a verb containing in
its semantic structure the core ‘X causes Y
to move into/onto Z,’ and converts it into a
new verb whose semantic structure
contains the core ‘X causes Z to change
state by means of moving Y into/onto it.
