For as many people that eat, or have eaten, doughnuts<br />
from <strong>The</strong> <strong>Wilson</strong> Doughnut Shop over the years, it’s often<br />
surprising to many to realize that the same place that has<br />
supplied the area with its original recipe of delicious doughnut<br />
for the last 60 years has some pretty great things to offer that<br />
have nothing to do with doughnuts.<br />
Some people do know about the breakfast, however.<br />
And along with their glazed doughnut, chocolate long john or<br />
lemon puff — all made on-site daily with the shop’s homemade<br />
chocolate and homemade cream, mind you — they can get<br />
any number of 14 biscuits. Tenderloin, scrambled sausage/<br />
egg, hoop cheese, turkey link, link sausage — the list goes on.<br />
<strong>The</strong>y could even round out their order with some fresh grits or<br />
hashbrowns. And they could get it all for the reasonable prices<br />
that one would expect to see at a place that primarily sells<br />
doughnuts.<br />
But it’s the lunch that seems to be the best kept secret<br />
at <strong>Wilson</strong> Doughnut Shop. Lunch specials are added each<br />
week, and soup and sandwich combos are available once the<br />
weather turns off cold. But it is the everyday, affordable menu<br />
staples that keep those in-the-know coming back. From the<br />
cheeseburgers, made from fresh meat pattied out daily, to the<br />
chicken salad, grilled chicken sandwiches and rib-eye steak<br />
sandwiches, the shop is definitely worth swinging back by in the<br />
afternoon... Even if it’s only been a few hours since you left it.<br />
