All three tasks showed the best performance in a silent<br />
environment, with the introverts performance dropping<br />
significantly more than the extroverts performance in the music<br />
<strong>and</strong> noise environments. Therefore, according to this study,<br />
personality type plays a role in the effects of background music<br />
on learning.<br />
Music Preferences<br />
The musical preference of the learners was another factor<br />
studied in an article in Educational Psychology (2006). In the<br />
article “The Cognitive <strong>and</strong> Academic Benefits of Music to<br />
Children: Facts <strong>and</strong> Fiction”, several studies were researched.<br />
Although these studies were conducted primarily on children, the<br />
overall conclusion was that positive moods facilitate optimum<br />
task performance, while negative moods disrupt performance. This<br />
points directly to the practicality of playing music that is<br />
