Dear Members,
Presidents Message
This cold weather certainly puts a damper on things, but I keep thinking
Spring is just around the corner...keep plugging away!
Kim and Harvey Rose had a great meeting at their house last month. Thank
you both for really putting yourself out, as usual (really great food).
We also had a very successful clinic in February with Tom Noone. Many
thanks to Tracy Schlabach for organizing the whole thing and Mary Ann
Burns for hosting it at her lovely farm in Odessa. Speaking for myself and my
students, we all came away from the lessons with a new insight or feel with
regards to riding the bend and thoroughness of the horse. The timing of
hand aids to soften, then how the leg and whip support are used to create
first forward movement, then more engagement. Tom was very articulate
and detailed in his explanation of how to use the legs. He encouraged long,
supple legs that could easily bounce off the horse, rather than grip. For all
the people ho rode and watched, there were lots of little pieces in this gigantic
puzzle that he helped put in place.
Our next meeting is at Mary Ann burns on March 9th. We will show one of
our new movies, recently purchased for our library.
See you there...
Joan
P.S. Don’t forget the third schooling show at soaring Eagles on March 21st...
May you have
the luck of the
Irish this year!
SUBMISSION DEADLINE TO COLLECTIONS IS THE 20th OF THE MONTH
SDCTA meeting minutes—February 9th,2010
The February SDCTA meeting was held at Harvey and Kim Rose’s on February 9th.
President Joan Potter called the meeting to order.
The minutes from January were approved.
The Treasurer's report was read. The treasurer reported a balance of $12,090.
Old Business:
Tracy reported we got 2 new members at the schooling show in January. Members approved
giving a gift to Bobby for allowing SDCTA to use her property for the show.
The third schooling show will be held on March 21 at Soaring Eagles. Still needing judge.
The clinic with Tom Noone at Mary Anne Burn's farm still has 2 spots left.
New Business:
The Dressage Among Friends show will be held the 1st weekend in May at the Fairgrounds.
We are still needing a judge, maybe Axel Steiner, and TD. We are getting a covered arena,
but we are not sure which one. Barbara Sutton will be the secretary. More specifics will follow
soon.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
Happy birthday to you!
