The Second Schooling Show Went Off Smoothly!
We had lovely weather, no problems, 36 rides in dressage classes and 4 rides in
the new Walk Trot group class. The show stated at 9:00 am and ended at 2:30 pm
and we got nice comments from new exhibitors about the way we run schooling
shows. Susan Griffin was our judge and under her critical eye, riders got helpful
comments which targeted areas for improvement.
Some of our high scoring riders got very nice scores indeed. Molly Pinheiro on
Auburn Royal won High Show and First Level Champion with a 76.724. Amber
Rohrer on Red Hawk got Reserve High Show and Intro Level Champion with a
72.188. Samantha Sawyer on Joy Ride got Reserve Intro Level with a 69.375.
Training Level Champion was Denise Perrotta on Elated with a 71.667 and
Heather Miller got Reserve on Bit Of Gold with a 68.393. Reserve First Level
was Susan Hartman on Spyder Hits with a 69.483. Alberta McEuen on Aries got
Second Level Champion with a 61 and Jamie Sawyer got Reserve on Pasha. Susan
Marston got Third Level Champion on Dutch in the Freestyle with a 71. And
Rebecca Ruthberg got Fourth Level Champion on Chloe with a 64.714. Congratulations
to all our winners. We have a nice picture of Chloe and Rebecca below.

SDCTA January 8th 2013 Meeting at the Red Barn, Innfields

The meeting was opened with acceptance of the minutes of the November 2012 meeting The treasurer’s report was
given.
Condolences were given to Denise Clayton on the death of her husband, Tom.
The January show will be at Soaring Eagle on January 20 th . Volunteers are welcome. The judge is Susan Griffen
with Chris Bubley scribing and Barbara Sutton scoring.
We discussed the coming March rated show at the fairgrounds. The dates are March 2 nd and March 3 rd . We will
need many volunteers as usual. Please call Sally Cahill to volunteer. Call Mary Mobley re the new tests. They can
be downloaded from the USDF web site. We discussed these new USEF rider tests. They are harder on the rider
than the regular tests.
We mentioned that the USDF/USEF has introduced a new Training Level Freestyle.
We mentioned that lots of free videos and articles are available at the USDF web site by clicking on the e-Trak link.
We discussed the USDF views on Western Dressage. Essentially that Western Dressage is not dressage as defined
by the FEI.
We enjoyed meeting at the beautiful new facilities known as the “Red Barn.” We also noted the ability to show videos
from Dressage Training Online on their TV via and iPhone or iPad.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:35

Presidents Message
Our big March show is on top of us and we need everyone to rally and support it. Riding...working (before, during
and after)...are all appreciated. We need any time you can give.
Please come to the meeting this month at Elizabeth’s for information on the show. We also have Leslie Zieger
and Jane Whitehurst giving us a great talk on the USDF Trainers Conference they attended. I’m sure they’ll both
have a lot of insightful tips to share with all of us. I know I’m jealous. It should be a fun evening for all and I
hope to see you there.
We need a manager for the third schooling show on April 20th. You may hold it at Soaring Eagles again if you
want—all the office and judges supplies and ribbons are there and the ring is set up. Or you can hold it somewhere
else. But, the bottom line is we need someone to volunteer to do it. So think about it and be prepared to
volunteer at the March meeting to make sure there is enough time to get a judge and send out the prize list. We
also could use vendors and concessions as well.
