As an option, Caterpillar is offering
accessories for the most different applications
such as flexible fuel lines, fuel
filter/separator, AC circuit breakers and
a keel cooling kit.
Caterpillar C2.2 Marine Genset
Its low fuel consumption of 5.2 l/h
to 6.2 l/h and long service intervals of
500 operating hours ensure economical
operation also for the C2.2 genset.
This compact genset meets the requirements
of different applications in the
output band from 18 kVA to 37 kVA
(table 3) including heavy load.
When maintenance is required, singleside
servicing allows for flexible installation
in the engine room. The 2.2 litre
four-stroke Caterpillar diesel engine is
available both as naturally aspirated
and turbocharged models.

As for the rest, the equipment regarding
electronic control and safety as well
as the basic construction and accessories
correspond to the configuration
described for the C1.5 marine genset.
Caterpillar C4.4 Marine Genset
Core of the C4.4 genset is the new
Caterpillar C4.4 diesel engine which is
the successor to the proven Cat 3054
and 3056 series and combines the benefits
of a proven design with the latest
results of Caterpillar‘s R&D. The 4.4 litre
engine is thus offering low fuel consumption
and stable operating conditions
across the entire speed range due
to a precise timing of the combustion
process. The engine features a standard
electronically governed fuel injection
pump. Load changes are handled
without any problems. For example,
lights do not flicker when genset load
demands suddenly increase.
Within an output range of 47 kVA
to 107 kVA the genset can be used
on yachts and workboats with heavy
load applications. Depending on the
requirements the four-stroke in-line
engine with crossflow cylinder head
(cooling??) will be available in naturally
aspirated, turbocharged and turbocharged
aftercooled options.
Like its predecessors models Cat
3054 and 3065 the C4.4 is characterized
by significantly limited visible
smoke throughout its operating range.
Even starting the engine in cold temperatures
yields virtually no visible
white smoke due to a special cold starting
mechanism. In addition, the C4.4
genset meets the emission requirements
according to EPA Tier 2 in its 60
Hz ratings at 1800 rpm and the CCNR
(Central Commission for Navigation of
the Rhine) standards for 50 Hz operation
at a speed of 1500 rpm.
