Note the pannier rack goes between the passenger footrest and the BMW frame. Three M8 washers make up for the thickness of the pannier rack between the footrest and the frame. RIGHT side brace at passenger-peg. Photo is LOOKING UP from below. Note the pannier rack goes on the inside of the BMW frame, and is secured with the M8 nyloc nut.
