Swinburne International are located in the Student Information Centre, Wakefield Street,
Hawthorn and can be contacted on 9214 5575.
This is the first point of contact at Swinburne for international students and is responsible
for the admission, orientation and welfare of all international students. Staff can refer
students with problems onto appropriate staff within the University and Student Union.

The Swinburne Student Amenities Association (SSAA) is located in the UN Building on
the corner of John St and Burwood Road, Hawthorn, and can be contacted on 9214
5455. They offer the following services:
Academic support is provided by the Student Advisory and Academic Support
Centre (SAASC). Staff are employed to assist students if they have been
excluded, are unhappy with a mark or have a general complaint about a course or
teaching.
The Equity Unit is responsible for dealing with problems arising from such things
as discrimination, harassment or access to and support for disadvantaged groups.
Legal advice is offered to students on any civil or criminal matters. The solicitor is
available at the Hawthorn campus. Students will be referred to sympathetic legal
practitioners should representation be required.
The Night Bus is a free service to students and staff, transporting them to their
cars and public transport safely within the local area. The bus leaves every half
hour outside the Corner Café (corner John Street and Wakefield Street) Monday
to Thursday 6.15pm to 9.45pm (during daylight savings the service starts at
7.15pm.
Noticeboards are located throughout the Hawthorn campus. Students and staff
can have notices put up by the Student Union. Posters are approved at the
Student Union and must have a SSU stamp and date or they will be removed.
Notices are removed after 1 week.
Telephone Calls
Telephones are available in each of the sessional offices. You will need to dial ‘0’ in order
to get an outside line. Otherwise if you are dialling an internal number, just dial the
extension number. For the Switchboard - dial ‘9’.
