MARRIAGE PREPARATION
It is necessary to contact a priest 6 months
before intended date of marriage. Pre-marriage
preparation is also required for the Sacrament
of Marriage.
RESPONDING TO THE CALL
Do we truly know the voice of Christ? Do we truly respond to the voice of our shepherd with our own distinctive voice? How
often we attempt to imitate those around us, appropriating the response of another member of the flock to Christ. Perhaps we
need to balance the image of being sheep of one flock with the image from the second reading, which tells us that we are all
children of God. What child has precisely the same interaction with parents as his or her siblings? Instead, they frequently do
and say things to distinguish themselves in the eyes of their parents.
Whether we use the image of children or of sheep to understand our relationship with Christ, we believe that we are all known
and called by name. With this great gift comes a responsibility: to respond to the call with our own distinctive voice, to take

BAPTISM PREPARATION
First time parents should contact the parish office (ext. 11) well in
advance of an expected Baptism, before birth when possible,
to prepare for and to schedule both the Baptism and to register
for Baptism Instruction. Baptisms during Mass are held the 1st
Sunday of the month and Baptisms after Mass at 1:15 pm are
typically held the 2 nd and 3 rd Sundays of the month. The next
Baptism Instruction will be held on Thur., May 3, 2012 at 7 pm.
SPONSOR & GODPARENT LETTERS
Sponsors’ & Godparents’ letters, for upcoming Baptisms and
Confirmations to be held at another Catholic Church,
are provided by the parish for registered members, who have
been members for at least six months, attend Mass, and are
receiving the sacraments on a regular basis. Letters may be
obtained by calling Rita at 724.745.6560, ext 11.

Next week, the Little Sisters of the Poor will be with us at all
the Masses to seek your financial support for their ministry to

provide for the needs of the elderly in their care at their home on

Religious Education Classes on Sunday, April 29 from
8:30 to 9:45 am.
JESUS NIGHT: The First Holy Communicants both Religious
Education and School will be having their special Jesus Night
on Tuesday, May 1st from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the Center. The
children will be completing their banners, practice for their First
Holy Communion and receive their prayer books, rosaries etc.
All children are required to attend.
FIRST HOLY COMMUNION: Eighty-seven children will be
making their First Holy Communion here on the following days:
Sunday, May 6th at 2:00 pm., Saturday, May 12th at 9:30 a.m.,
Sunday, May 13th at the 7:30 and 10:00 a.m. masses. Please
keep them in your prayers as they come to the table of the Lord
for the very first time.
CHIMBOTE FOUNDATION: The Religious Education students
donated a total of $1,040.00 in their Lenten Offering Boxes for
the Chimbote Foundation. Thank you students for your generosity
to support the Mission work in Chimbote, Peru. Your
thoughtfulness is greatly appreciated.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL: Come fly with us at SKY
Vacation Bible School where “Everything is Possible with
God” – June 25 th to June 29 th from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon at St.
Patrick Center. Join us for a weeklong celebration filled with
activities, Scripture, songs, crafts, snacks, fun and lots more! It
will give your child a wonderful experience of community and
faith! All registration forms must be in by June 1 st in order to
facilitate planning. Additional registration forms are available
in the church vestibule. Adults and students who would like to
help with VBS or for more information, please call Carol

4 TH OF JULY FLOAT: Calling all volunteers who would like to
help decorate a float for the Canonsburg 4 th of July Parade (50
years), please call the Religious Education office at 724-745-
3787. A meeting is being planned watch the bulletin for further

Class of 2012
Baccalaureate Mass
All graduates in the Class of 2012 are invited to the
Baccalaureate Mass and Breakfast Celebration on
Sunday, June 3 rd . The Baccalaureate Mass will begin at 10:00
am. Graduates should wear their caps, gowns and honor cords
and report to the cafeteria at 9:45 am. A breakfast celebration
for the graduates and their families will be held in the cafeteria
after Mass. registration forms are required so that we can
prepare breakfast and so that the graduates will be permitted to
get their caps and gowns early. These forms are available in the
church vestibule. Please return the completed form by May 25 th.

EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS
The Pastoral Care Department of Canonsburg Hospital is
looking for Eucharistic Ministers to assist in the distribution
of Holy Communion to the Catholic Patients in the
hospital. Some training is necessary. Amount of time is
dependent upon the Catholic population on any given day.
(1-2 hours would be the maximum). Please contact either
Rev. Cathy Peternel, Director of the Pastoral Care Department
or Fr. Jack Nanz, Chaplain to the Catholic patients of
Canonsburg Hospital at 724.745.6100, ext. 4118. Thank
