MARRIAGE PREPARATION
It is necessary to contact a priest 6 months
before intended date of marriage. Pre-marriage
preparation is also required for the Sacrament
of Marriage.
A NEW DAY DAWNS
Today we hear how Jonah, sent by God to warn the people, storms through the streets of Nineveh, scaring the citizens out of their wits. And it
works! God has a change of heart, seeing “by their actions” how the people turn from evil (Jonah 3:10). A new day dawns.
Next we hear Paul telling the Corinthians, “The world in its present form is passing away” (1 Corinthians 7:31). He calls for a change of heart.
Stopping short of telling them to stop carrying out their everyday activities, he urges them—rather mysteriously—to live “as though” they
aren’t doing the things they are doing. A new day has dawned.
Finally, Jesus stands on the shore and cries, “The kingdom of God is at hand!” (Mark 1:14). Simon and Andrew abandon their nets—and
even their father—and follow him. A new day had dawned.
Everyone has to change when a new day dawns: the Ninevites, the Corinthians, the apostles, even Jesus! Didn’t a new day dawn

EUCHARIST ADORATION
The Blessed Sacrament will be exposed on
Monday, January 23, 2012 after the 7:00 am
Mass and will conclude with Benediction at 7:00
pm. All the faithful are welcome and encouraged to
spend some time in prayer on this Day of Penance
for Violations to the Dignity of the Human Person.

BAPTISM
First time parents should contact the parish office (ext. 11)
well in advance of an expected Baptism, before birth when
possible, to prepare for and to schedule both the Baptism
and to register for Baptism Instruction. Baptisms during
Mass are held the 1st Sunday of the month and Baptisms
after Mass at 1:15 pm are typically held the 2 nd and 3 rd
Sundays of the month. The next Baptism Instruction will
be held on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at 7:00 pm.
SPONSORS & GODPARENTS
Sponsors’ & Godparents’ letters, for upcoming Baptisms and
Confirmations to be held at another Catholic Church, are
provided by the parish for registered members, who have been
members for at least six months, attend Mass, and are receiving
the sacraments on a regular basis. Letters may be obtained by
calling Liz at 724.745.6560, ext 11.
POST-ABORTION HEALING
Rachel's Vineyard, a weekend retreat designed to heal the
emotional and spiritual wounds of abortion, will be held
January 27-29, 2012 at the Spiritan Center in Bethel Park.
In a confidential and supportive atmosphere, Rachel's
Vineyard demonstrates God's love, forgiveness, and
compassion to women and men struggling with abortion's

IT’S TIME AGAIN
It’s time again to make pierogies for the upcoming Lenten Fish
Fry. Volunteers, please report to the hall at St. Genevieve on
Sunday, Jan. 29 at 7:00 am and on Monday, Jan. 30 th at 8:00 am.
These pierogies will be sold each Friday during Lent at our
Annual Fish Fry which is held in the school cafeteria. Come,
meet, and enjoy other members of our parish community. We
have fun working together and sharing lunch.
If you can, please bring one (1) dozen eggs to help defray some
costs for this project. Any questions, please contact Loretta

We officially kick off Catholic Schools Week "Faith.
Academics. Service" with the celebration of the Liturgy at
noon on Sunday, January 29th. We will have a Pancake
Breakfast (sponsored by our Athletic Association) from 8:00
a.m.-2:00 p.m. Registration for Preschool and Kindergarten
for 2012-2013 school year will take place immediately
following the mass. We welcome anyone interested in
pursuing Catholic Education or if you just want to see our
beautiful school, please join us at our Open House from
1:00 till 3:00 p.m. Science Fair projects and the work of our
students will be on display.

39 th Annual March for Life
Monday, January 23, 2012
The Youth Bus will be leaving from St. Patrick Church for Washington, D.C. at 12:45
am. All teens and adults traveling to Washington, D.C. on this earlier bus, please be in the parking
lot by 12:30 am. (That’s shortly after midnight tonight!) You will only need money for your meals.
Dress for the weather since we will be outdoors most of the day. You may bring a pillow and blanket to

This summer our Youth Ministry Mission Trip will be June 17-23 to Lancaster, PA.
Students in grade 8 and older (and their parents*) will love and serve the Lord by loving and serving others.

form by Wednesday, January 25. After that date you may be put on a wait list. The total cost of the trip is $500
per person which includes Workcamp fee, CHWC shirt, all meals and lodging, and transportation costs. Fundraising
