Mahalo for being part of the YWCA of O‘ahu,
the oldest and largest women’s organization in
Hawai‘i. Because of your active involvement and
support we are able to continue empowering
women and eliminating racism.
In 2011, our Board of Directors and team members
worked diligently to stabilize the organization by
retiring the debt and cutting costs.
In 2012, it was our challenge to demonstrate
our relevance to the community. We did so by
expanding our legacy programs and starting new initiatives to meet
enduring and emerging community needs. We established strategic
partnerships for greater impact.
And we are investing in our future. Our facilities have experienced muchneeded
renovation and have had new life breathed into them. Likewise,
we are investing in our team, repositioning some and providing training
and development opportunities for all. In October eleven of us attended a
capacity building conference hosted by our regional leadership.
This month we not only close out our fiscal year, we also conduct staff
and board retreats to set direction and develop strategies for 2013. While
I can’t say for certain what the new year will bring, what I do know is that
we’ve set a firm foundation and our future is bright.
We look forward to, along with your help, continuing the 112-year legacy
of the YWCA of Oahu. Thank you for being part of our history.
