WELCOME KYLIE
ELIZABETH
FAMILIES AT OBRAS HOSPITAL
Kylie Elizabeth (AKA
"The Cutie") was
born late Tuesday
night (8/28). She is
Erin and Brandon
Leahy's first baby
and grand baby #3
for us. She decided
to come a little
early (3 weeks) so
is a very petite 4 lb.
13 oz. and a mere
17 in. and every bit
adorable. There will
be some ongoing adjustments for us all as
she has a hole in her heart that will need
to be repaired in about three months, and
she has Downs Syndrome, which Brandon
has already reframed as "Ups" syndrome.
For now everyone is resting up, and the
family hopes to be home by the weekend.
To be continued... Grandpa Dan Leahy
Each summer Dean Cyndy FitzGerald goes to
Guatemala with the Faces of Hope medical mission
team to serve children with cleft palate, cleft lip,
and severe burns. Ashley and her grandmother
returned for follow-up this summer and recognized
Dr. FitzGerald and her puppet friend, Clifford, on the
first morning of clinic. Cyndy provides play and art
therapy, as well as literacy development in her work
with Guatemalan families.
ability to meet all manner of challenges in the
considerable initiative.” Congratulations, Jessie! •
CONGRATULATIONS!
Don’t expect Griffin James Carver to participate in any
class discussions at the upcoming residential cohort.
The newest LIOS Graduate College ‘student’ hasn’t
filled out his official application but he’s welcome
anyhow. Griffin is the son of second-year LOD student,
Larke Brost, and her husband, Jon Carver. Griffin
politely waited until his mother finished her June
classes before making an appearance on July 3. He
will accompany his mother to the next RC. •
