-conscripted during the war and served the Russian army from 1915-17<br />

as camp musician and army chaufreur<br />

-served as interpreter for the Gernan occupatioal army<br />

-joined the Selbstschutz<br />

-drove an armoured truck for the White army until its first retreat<br />

when he contacted typhoid fever<br />

-under Wrangel he worked in SevastoTol building an ar~oured<br />

destroyer until the final defeat <strong>of</strong> the Whites<br />

-returned to Alexander~,rone a~d .frot married<br />

-vias elected village secretary :Ln the Soviet administrab.')n from<br />

1921-23<br />
