checklist and sign and date this page, your application will be invalid and will be returned to you. 

APPLYING FOR AN ARTC 

1. I have read both the ARTC Applicant Guidelines and the ARTC Criteria and Guidelines relevant to my country of training and 

understand the requirements for lodging an ARTC application and providing supporting evidence. 

2. I understand that I am ineligible to be granted an ARTC if I hold an Offshore Technical Skills Record in the same trade and 

have not completed my Australian context training and supervised employment requirements. 

3. I understand that if I have completed my Australian context training and supervised employment requirements, I must submit 

a certified copy of my relevant Australian qualification to prove completion and that if I do not, my ARTC application will not be 

granted. Where an application is refused under these circumstances, applicants are not eligible for a refund of ARTC fees. 

4. I am applying for a trade that is assessed under the ARTC program and I understand that my application will be returned to 

me if I do not select a trade assessed by the ARTC program. See page 3 for the list of ARTC trades.

TRADE EXPERIENCE

Before you lodge your ARTC application, you should read the ARTC Applicant Guidelines and ARTC Criteria and Guidelines. 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION 

CERTIFYING DOCUMENTS 

TRA will only accept documents certified by an Australian registered migration agent or persons listed in Schedule 2 of the Statutory Declarations 

Regulations 1993, which is available through the Australian Attorney-General’s Department website 

(http://www.austlii.com/au/legis/cth/consol_reg//sdr1993389/sch2.html). Further information on certification is available in section 1.13 of the ARTC 

Applicant Guidelines.

EMPLOYMENT STATEMENT 

• Name of the business. 

• Nature of the business (for example, construction company). 

• A detailed description of business and its services/products. 

• The business address. 

• The start and end dates of your employment at the business. 

• Whether you were full-time or part-time & your hours of work. 

• Your job title (trade). 

• A detailed description of your day-to-day duties at that business. 

• A detailed description of the machines, tools, equipment you used.

make the statement and the date the statement was signed. 

• The length of time that the person making the statement supervised you. 

• All employment statements must be on letterhead used by the employer’s 

business where possible. If you are unable to provide employment statements 

on letterhead you must provide TRA with an explanation of why this is not 

possible.

PART 9 - DECLARATION AND PRIVACY STATEMENT 

TRA collects information from applicants and their nominated representatives for the purposes of assessing whether an applicant has suitable skills in a 

nominated trade. Information collected from applicants and their nominated representatives and other information collected during the processing of 

applications is managed under the Privacy Act 1988. 

TRA may disclose all or some of the information collected to other areas of the Department of Industry for the purposes of conducting investigations and 

for the purposes of ensuring compliance with relevant laws, awards and/or standards. 

TRA may disclose all or some of the information collected to other agencies or individuals for the purposes of processing applications, verifying evidence 

provided with applications, and assessing whether an applicant has suitable skills in a nominated trade. 

TRA may disclose information collected to an applicant's former employer and/or training provider for the purposes of verifying evidence provided with 

applications and for assessing applications. 

TRA may disclose all or some of the information collected, including information on assessment outcomes, to the Department of Immigration and 

Border Protection (DIBP) for the purpose of conducting investigations. TRA may disclose all or some of the information collected to state licensing bodies for 

the purposes of those bodies verifying any claims made to them. 

Applicants, their nominated representatives and other members of the public may request access to the information collected by TRA under the Freedom of 

Information Act 1982. 

The Commonwealth Fraud Control Guidelines 2002 apply to information collected by TRA from applicants and their nominated representatives and other 

information collected during the processing of applications. TRA may disclose all or some of the information collected to comply with these guidelines. 

Giving false or misleading information is a serious offence. A person convicted of fraud in connection with an application for skills assessment may be 

subject to a range of penalties, including fines and imprisonment. 

TRA may withdraw a successful skills assessment outcome where an applicant is later found to have provided false or misleading information. 

TRA may refer Australian employers to the appropriate authorities for investigation as a result of information provided with applications.

Application fees are paid by Visa or MasterCard using TRA’s Online Portal. When you are ready to pay, access 

the Online Portal at:

You will need a username and password to sign in and make a payment. If you do not already have a username and password, 

register for an account by selecting the relevant service under the Register section and follow the on screen instructions. After 

registering, a username and password will be provided to you.

Important information 

Payments by Visa or MasterCard are processed in Australian Dollars (AUD) only. You may incur banking and currency 

conversion fees. Transactions use encrypted security through the Government EasyPay service operated by the 

Reserve Bank of Australia. TRA does not have access to and will never store your full card details. 

After signing in to the Online Portal, make sure you select the correct service so that you pay the correct amount.
