Concerto and Honors Recital Competition<br />

<strong>Interlochen</strong> offers a separate concerto competition <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> High School and Intermediate Divisions, as well as an<br />

Honors Recital competition <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> Junior Division. These competitions are competitive and only advanced<br />

students should enter. Winners in <strong>the</strong> high school and intermediate divisions will per<strong>for</strong>m with one of <strong>the</strong> division’s<br />

orchestras or wind ensembles. Junior competition winners will per<strong>for</strong>m on a special Honors Recital scheduled at<br />

<strong>the</strong> end of each two-week Junior session. In<strong>for</strong>mation about <strong>the</strong> Concerto Competition and Honors Recital can be<br />

Concert Etiquette<br />

<strong>Interlochen</strong> strives to uphold <strong>the</strong> highest artistic standards. Students are expected to maintain appropriate<br />

behavior during per<strong>for</strong>mances and presentations. As members of <strong>the</strong> audience and per<strong>for</strong>ming ensembles, a few<br />

reminders to follow:<br />

• Please do not clap <strong>for</strong> stage crew personnel<br />

• Please keep feet off <strong>the</strong> seats<br />

• Please remain silent and seated and do not clap or “shhhh” after <strong>the</strong> playing of The <strong>Interlochen</strong> Theme<br />

• Students in <strong>the</strong> audience may not call out to those on stage<br />

• No backpacks or instruments are permitted in <strong>the</strong> audience area of <strong>the</strong> per<strong>for</strong>mance venues<br />

• No signs or banners should be taken into a venue or presented at a concert<br />

• Enter and exit per<strong>for</strong>mances at <strong>the</strong> designated beginning and end. If one MUST leave due to an urgent<br />

situation, please do so during applause between acts/pieces.<br />

• Talking during per<strong>for</strong>mance is not acceptable<br />

• No gum, candy, drink or food in <strong>the</strong> per<strong>for</strong>mance spaces<br />

• The high note at <strong>the</strong> end of The National An<strong>the</strong>m is not in <strong>the</strong> music. Please do not sing it.<br />

Image/Per<strong>for</strong>mance Waiver<br />

<strong>Interlochen</strong> <strong>Center</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Arts</strong> reserves <strong>the</strong> right to have full and unrestricted use of student’s image,<br />

per<strong>for</strong>mance, and/or voice reproduction, without compensation, in any and all media, now known or hereafter<br />

devised, throughout <strong>the</strong> world, in perpetuity. Examples of this type of use may be photographs, videotape, digital<br />

video and sound recordings created <strong>for</strong> authorized <strong>Interlochen</strong> <strong>Center</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Arts</strong> promotions, videotape and film<br />

projects, broadcasts and printed materials such as newspapers, magazines, books, brochures, catalogs,<br />

<strong>Interlochen</strong> websites, o<strong>the</strong>r online promotion, electronic and recorded media (e.g., audio tapes, CDs, DVDs, CD-<br />

ROMs) and o<strong>the</strong>r authorized educational activities by <strong>the</strong> <strong>Center</strong>.<br />

<strong>Interlochen</strong> <strong>Arts</strong> Academy<br />

<strong>Interlochen</strong> <strong>Arts</strong> Academy, <strong>the</strong> nation’s first and <strong>for</strong>emost fine arts boarding high school, unites students with<br />

o<strong>the</strong>rs who value <strong>the</strong>ir highest aspirations, creating a close-knit artist community. Five hundred of <strong>the</strong> world’s most<br />

talented and motivated young artists study music, <strong>the</strong>atre, dance, visual arts, creative writing, motion picture arts<br />

and comparative arts in a college-like setting. They find in <strong>the</strong> Academy a fast-paced, creative environment that<br />

challenges, inspires and focuses <strong>the</strong>ir talents. While producing more than 250 artistic presentations in <strong>the</strong> school<br />

year, Academy students also master a challenging and comprehensive college-preparatory academic curriculum<br />

that prepares <strong>the</strong>m to take prominent roles in a whole universe of professional endeavors. Representatives from<br />

<strong>the</strong> Admission office meet with eligible students who express interest in learning more about <strong>the</strong> Academy. For<br />

<strong>Interlochen</strong> <strong>Arts</strong> Festival – Special Concerts<br />

Access to student ticket order <strong>for</strong>ms <strong>for</strong> <strong>Interlochen</strong> <strong>Arts</strong> Festival events are available in <strong>the</strong> spring (mid to late<br />

April) on <strong>the</strong> Parent Resource <strong>Center</strong> via <strong>the</strong> <strong>Interlochen</strong> website at: http://camp.interlochen.org/campparents.<br />

At <strong>the</strong> Parent Resource <strong>Center</strong> you will find links to <strong>the</strong> Student Priority Ticket Order website <strong>for</strong> camp students<br />

that are customized <strong>for</strong> each camp division. Please, only purchase student tickets utilizing one of <strong>the</strong> Priority<br />

Student Ticket Order websites. Do not use <strong>the</strong> web link on <strong>Interlochen</strong>'s website <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> box office, which is<br />

intended <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> general public. The reason student tickets must be purchased using <strong>the</strong> Student Priority Ticket<br />

Order website is because each <strong>Camp</strong> division arranges <strong>for</strong> students to sit toge<strong>the</strong>r with division staff chaperones.<br />

The student order websites only include <strong>the</strong> concerts are available <strong>for</strong> each division to avoid conflicts with o<strong>the</strong>r<br />

student events. Popular shows sell quickly. Some events may not be appropriate <strong>for</strong> younger students and can<br />

run very late. <strong>Interlochen</strong> staff reserve <strong>the</strong> right to limit concert selections or have campers leave a per<strong>for</strong>mance<br />

early. Parents may order <strong>the</strong>ir own tickets at: http://tickets.interlochen.org as soon as tickets are available to <strong>the</strong><br />

public (mid to late April).<br />
