Appendix 1 (Dorothy C. Zbicz, 2001) The list, therefore, not only identifies where protected areas occur on either side of national boundary, but also the potential for greater co-operation in future, including for the establishment of more Parks for Peace. This can be realised through formalizing transboundary relationships for conservation and security as recommended in these guidelines. The potential for improved biodiversity conservation and regional collaboration in the 21 st century may indeed extend further: to identify this potential, a list of all protected areas adjacent to international boundaries is under preparation.
