Dear <strong>Jones</strong> Student,<br />

The Office of Recruitment welcomes you to <strong>Jones</strong> UpClose. We hope<br />

you will learn everything you need to know about <strong>Jones</strong> to help you in<br />

your transition to college. This orientation packet will be your guide to<br />

college life and help assist you with any questions you may encounter.<br />

As a new Bobcat, you will receive our excellent resources and services<br />

available to students while enrolled at <strong>Jones</strong>. Today is dedicated to<br />

registering for classes and gaining all the knowledge needed to be a<br />

successful first year student. At <strong>Jones</strong>, we strive to see all our students<br />

excel and reach their full potential. We hope you enjoy your <strong>Jones</strong><br />

PHI THETA KAPPA (PTK)<br />

Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) is one of many<br />

exciting organizations at <strong>Jones</strong> <strong>County</strong><br />

<strong>Junior</strong> <strong>College</strong>. Being involved in campus<br />

organizations offers great advantages<br />

to students. Opportunities to travel,<br />

community project work, and listening to<br />

amazing guest speakers are among the<br />

many benefits of being involved.<br />

Phi Theta Kappa is the international honor<br />

society for two-year colleges, promoting<br />

scholarship, leadership, service, and<br />

fellowship. Eligibility for membership in PTK<br />

is based on a grade point average of 3.5 for<br />

all college work completed before selection.<br />

During the semester preceding selection<br />

and the semester of selection, students<br />

must be enrolled in a minimum of 15<br />

semester hours of academic courses.<br />

Membership in PTK ensures members<br />

transfer scholarships to over 700<br />

colleges or universities.
