Faculty and Alumni take on Tough<br />
Mudder this fall in Kansas City<br />
Tough Mudder consists <strong>of</strong> hardcore 10-12 mile obstacle<br />
courses designed by British Special Forces to test participants’<br />
all around strength, stamina, mental grit, and teamwork.<br />

In Memorium: Liz Smith<br />
Liz Smith, 56, Lawson, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday,<br />
September 5, 2012, from an extended illness. The Department<br />
<strong>of</strong> Nursing and Alumni remember her as an excellent clinical<br />
faculty and guest lecturer for the management course. Ruth<br />
Edwards noted, “Liz’s caring , calm, expertise and high clinical<br />
standards remain with Alumni and Faculty <strong>of</strong> <strong>Jewell</strong>.”<br />
Memorial contributions may be made to the Liberty Hospital<br />
Foundation-2 East.<br />

I just wanted to send you and all the pr<strong>of</strong>essors a heartfelt<br />
thank you for the congratulations note you sent. It honestly<br />
brought me to tears. I was so touched. My experience at<br />
<strong>Jewell</strong> was so amazing and memorable. I can’t say enough<br />
about the amazing staff you have there and how much they<br />
shaped me into the nurse I am today. Please let everyone<br />
know how very grateful I am for everything you all have<br />
taught me. I will always strive to be a nurse that makes you all<br />
proud and who keeps your legacy <strong>of</strong> a love for nursing going.<br />
