Leaping Towards the Future...
Jewell’s brand new Pryor Learning Commons and Welcome Center under Construction
This $15 million project will provide Jewell
students with a state-of-the-art, modern
center for collaboration and engagement.
Construction of the new facility began this
summer and is scheduled to be completed
in 2013. Some of the features will include:
• expanded access to on-line journals
and research tools
• wireless and flexible computer labs
• video conferencing facilities
• media recording and editing suites
• engaging spaces for faculty
colloquiums, campus and
community lectures
• flexible and comfortable spaces and
furniture inviting conversation
and comfort
• café with late-night access
• a commitment to sustainability and
“green” construction and
operation principles
• The Center for Engaged Learning
• The Center for Justice and Sustainability
• The Center for Global Studies
Construction started this summer for Pryor
Learning Commons on the site where
Greene Hall once stood. The pictures show
Greene Hall one year ago, the building site
earlier this summer, and the current construction
of the building.
Fully funded by donors, the naming gift
was received by alumni Fred Pryor ’56
and Shirley Pryor ’56. “The role of a great
college like William Jewell is to prepare
students for leadership and service in the
