localities on identify<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> measur<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> performance <strong>of</strong> <strong>DMC</strong>-related <strong>in</strong>itiatives.<br />
States <strong>and</strong> localities need to underst<strong>and</strong> what to measure for <strong>the</strong>ir specific <strong>in</strong>itiatives <strong>and</strong><br />
how to collect data on <strong>the</strong>se measures. OJJDP should explore options for provid<strong>in</strong>g this<br />
<strong>in</strong>formation, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g aids <strong>and</strong> <strong>in</strong>dividual consultations.<br />
4. OJJDP should fund comprehensive national evaluations <strong>of</strong> JDAI <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> Burns<br />
Institute’s approach to deal<strong>in</strong>g with <strong>DMC</strong>.<br />
Although JDAI <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> Burns Institute have been work<strong>in</strong>g with a number <strong>of</strong> localities<br />

source. We would suggest that OJJDP seek fund<strong>in</strong>g for such an evaluation, <strong>and</strong> work with <strong>the</strong><br />
National Institute <strong>of</strong> Justice to identify goals <strong>and</strong> objectives for such an evaluation.<br />
