MultiGrid<br />

<strong>Multidiscipline</strong> Support<br />

MultiGrid is an integrated <strong>support</strong> system<br />

for all main disciplines such as electrical,<br />

instrumentation, telecom, HVAC and piping.<br />

A key feature is the compatible components<br />

which gives you maximum <strong>support</strong> flexibility<br />

across the disciplines. This offers you the<br />

freedom to use the system for one or two<br />

disciplines, or three or four if you like.<br />

The system provides a bolted solution<br />

for <strong>support</strong>ing all disciplines.<br />

MultiGrid<br />

MultiGrid is the concept name of the entire multidiscipline <strong>support</strong><br />

system. The MultiGrid concept covers all welded and<br />

bolted starter brackets, all channels and frames.<br />

Mekano<br />

Mekano is the concept name of all channels and fixing accessories<br />

for MultiGrid. The Mekano channels are multidiscipline<br />

and used for creating <strong>support</strong> and <strong>support</strong> frames. All Mekano<br />

parts are marked in red in the following system drawings.<br />

MultiGrid Support System<br />

The idea behind MultiGrid is that welding<br />

brackets are welded in a square pattern<br />

(e.g. 1200 x 600 cm).<br />

These are welded early in the<br />

construction phase, and later sandblasted<br />

and painted along<br />

with the steel structure.<br />

The broad range of starter brackets and<br />

channels provide excellent <strong>support</strong> for any<br />

discipline.<br />

In 2006 it was decided that<br />

Norwegian main grid owner Statnett was<br />

to build two gas turbine driven power plants<br />

on the north-west coast of Norway. The three<br />

production units were expected to produce 150 MW.<br />

Late 2007 Oglaend System was contacted by E&I Contractor<br />

Siemens Installation, and based on their sketch our R&D department<br />

developed a solution including MultiGrid <strong>support</strong>, cable ladders Type OE,<br />

trefoil cable cleats Type SmartCleat and earth links.<br />

The Mekano 100-3 channel along with accessories was the best choice for the 4.5 meter tall<br />

towers. The channels were easy to handle and assemble due to the light weight of the 2.5<br />

mm thick non-magnetic AISI 316 L stainless steel. Even if none of the items exceeded the<br />

maximum man-handling weight of 25 kg the final construction was firm and strong.<br />
