The show must go on
At December 10th Napoli was facing a big group
of students, getting of at Statione Mercellina to
climb up the way to the Hostel Mercellina, the
youth hostel where they were supposed to stay for
the final conference of Socrates on the move
project.
It was a big ”hello” with everybody happy to see
each other again and sharing their experiences
from the work they have done in the course of the
project.
Whereas Sunday evening rather focused on gathering
of reports and informal meeting, on Monday
morning the conference was officially opened by
the representatives of the Ferderico II University
of Napoli, Samuele Morcia of the Italian National
Socrates Agency and the representative of the
European Commission, Marja Karjaleinen.
questions was taken into account on Tuesday
morning during the panel discussion with Marja
Karjaleinen, Samuele Morcia and Inge Knudsen
from the Confederation of European Union
Rectors’ Conferences.
In the afternoon the promoters and guest were
focussing on discussing the future of Socrates on
the move and in what way its extension could be
done.
Final Conference
The highlight of the conference on Monday morning
was presentation of the reports from the participating
countries. All promoters were asked to
present the current situation of the implementation
of Socrates II in their respective countries and
their own work.
The reports were often underlined by rather amusing
stories from events and happenings the promoters
were facing during their work with the
project.
Monday afternoon was reserved for the discussion
groups with Steering group and report from seminars.
The workshops on obstacles of mobility,
impact of Socrates II.
Discussion of the workshops was very lively, and
Bologna process gave lively discussion, since
most of the promoters were confronted with various
aspects of those topics and could bring in their
point of view.
The need for discussion and the unending flow of
Final Conference
Napoli
Under the flash lights of the photographer, the
Steering Group later handed out the certificates to
the Socrates Promoters to honour the work they
have put down in the project.
Apart from the working session, Napoli offered
various terrific experiences for the participants of
the conference. For most of us, this was the culinary
summit of the year, combined with the
warmest December most of us every experienced.
A big thank to the organisers of ESN Napoli for
the great job they did in organizing this conference.
