Karoliina Reijonen
Oulo, Finland
Karoliina Reijonen (born 1977) comes from Joensuu, Finland. She is
studying to become a teacher in the Master of Education - International
Programme in Oulu University.
During the year of 2000 she was a member of the Oulu University
Student Union Board, responsible for international affairs. Her hobbies
and interests are politics, voluntary organisations and voluntary service.
Currently Karoliina is doing her teacher training in Kenya, Africa.
Karoliina heard about SOTM through the National Union of Finnish
Students’ e-mail list and was excited about the challenging aspects and
wonderful possibilities to take part in a large international project and
experience the internationalisation in practice.

Claudia Buchrieser, from ESN Graz: „As far as I can see, Socrates on
the Move has been a valuable experience to all of us. There has definitely
been a lot of stress and pressure that we had to cope with, and there have
definitely been things that have not worked out the way we would have
wanted them to work out. However, at the same time we have learned so
much, and I am not talking about information and facts about Socrates II
and other educational programmes only. We have learned to work in a
team, to co-operate with colleagues from different European cultures.
What is important, above all, is the fact that we have motivated students
to go and spend part of their lives abroad, to get to know a world different
from their own, and to broaden their horizon. I have spent part of my studies
abroad, and I would not want to miss it. I feel it is very important, and
I feel proud to have participated in a project like Socrates on the Move.“
