present pharmacological practices,
particularly the use of psychotropic
medications, and examine the potential of
new techniques in promoting effective
pharmacotherapy
Response: In the following months and
years the pharmacological practices at
HRC were evaluated and new policies and
procedures relating to pharmacotherapy
were established.
In the fall of 1980, the Ministry engaged
Dr. C.W. Gowdey, Professor of
Pharmacology at the University of
Western Ontario to prepare a study of
Drug Therapy and dispensing practices at
HRC and Mr. R. Builder, a Consultant in
Pharmacy to do a complete review of
pharmacy related procedures at HRC and
other facilities (CR078448). The Gowdey
report and its recommendations were later
forwarded to P.A.C. and the Health
Services Advisory Committee with a view
to ultimately developing a set of
recommendations for general distribution
(CR043076)...
