rebirth of design
If we look at 40 years previously we see the birth of design. From flashy shoes
to colourful lamps in our life. We have to admit the ’70s were the design years.
Everything was on the market to be bought . Having toys, furniture, shoes and
what else in very new shape and colour. Also in that years we got the huge
shopping centres adding to the small shops in the city. The people were hungry
in many aspects and by that they got what they wanted.
When coming to ‘80s, or as American Industrial designers say, the barbaric
old ‘80s, which we are free to accept or not, only we can say in this years
especially the technology didn’t give too many new chances to the designers.
This means for instance the range of colours, the materials that could be easily
coming into the shape of imaginations of designers and so on. And we have to
see as well in these years the consumers, aiming very much for earning money
from money, and of course saving it. Not too many people were prepared to
pay much for anything.
In ‘90s we see some movement of the people who want to have a good-looking
lifestyle and it had to be new of course. They wanted to re-create the space
around them.
Now technology is giving us, consumers, things we don’t even know yet how
we can use them. Computerisation and new materials have made production of
just about anything remotely imaginable possible, cheaper and more efficient,
and quality easier to maintain.
