NOTE TO TENDERERS:<br />

1. Type test reports shall be complete and satisfactory as per this T/E<br />

specification for each size of the fan and regulator with performance<br />

requirements at the rated voltage and shall be from any Govt. laboratory.<br />

2. Tenderers shall furnish copy of valid BIS Licence and/or BEE 5 star<br />

certificate, as applicable, along with their offer for the items covered<br />

under Schedule-1.<br />

3. Tenderer shall furnish Guaranteed <strong>Technical</strong> <strong>Particulars</strong> as per the<br />

Questionaire for each item quoted.<br />

4. IMPORTANT:<br />

With effect from next Rate Contract (2012-13), ceiling fans with 1200 mm and<br />

1400 mm sweep having ISI mark AND BEE 5 star rating shall ONLY be accepted.<br />

Further, only electronic regulators (step-type) shall be accepted. As such,<br />

item numbers 2,3,4,5, 7, 8,9,10& 11 of Schedule-1 shall stand DELETED in rate<br />

contract for year 2012-13. Hence,it is in the interest of the firms to get<br />

their products type tested as per relevant specifications of BIS and BEE 5<br />

star rating and get them registered with DGS&D, well in advance.<br />

5. Firms must submit their application to concerned QA Office for fresh or<br />

renewal of registration/capacity assessment/special capacity assessment PRIOR<br />

to 21 days before the scheduled date of tender opening,failing which their<br />

application shall NOT be entertained.


Detailed Specification<br />

Schedule 1 <strong>Electric</strong> <strong>Ceiling</strong> Fan Capacitor Type<br />

1. <strong>Electric</strong> ceiling fans shall be capacitor type, with double ball bearing<br />

complete with capacitor, 300 mm down rod, canopies, three number blades made<br />

of aluminum alloy, with suitable speed regulator, suitable for operation on<br />

single phase,AC 230 Volt, 50Hz supply and shall conform to class 1 of IS:<br />

374/1979 (Reaffirmed 2005).<br />

2. Wherever applicable, the ceiling fans shall be ISI marked and/or have BEE<br />

5 star marking.<br />

3. The electronic regulators (step type) shall conform to IS: 11037/1984<br />

(Reaffirmed 2005).<br />

4. The resistance type regulator shall confirm to IS:374/1979 (Reaffirmed<br />

2005).<br />

IMPORTANT NOTE:<br />

With effect from next Rate Contract (2012-13), ceiling fans with 1200 mm and<br />

1400 mm sweep having ISI mark AND BEE 5 star rating shall ONLY be accepted.<br />

Questionnaire<br />

Schedule <strong>Electric</strong> <strong>Ceiling</strong> Fan Capacitor Type<br />

1. Tenderers shall furnish following particulars for each<br />

item quoted separately. These particulars shall be same<br />

as that of type tested fan and shall match with the<br />

particulars specified in the TTC.<br />

Manufacturer's name trade name and model<br />

2 Sweep.<br />

3. Rated voltage<br />

4. Maximum input in watts at maximum speed and at rated<br />

voltage,<br />

5. Air delivery in cub.m/min at rated voltage,<br />

6. Maximum current at maximum speed at rated voltage.<br />

7. Power factor at rated voltage and maximum speed.<br />

8. Rated speed in RPM (without regulator) at rated voltage.<br />

9. Rated speed in RPM with speed regulator at maximum<br />

position and at<br />

rated voltage (as % of the rated speed).<br />

10. Type of motor, number of poles and degree of protection.<br />

11 Class of insulation.<br />

12 Material and size of winding wire used in the winding of<br />

the fan<br />

13 Material and diameter of shaft.<br />

14a) Type and material of the top bearing.<br />

14b) Type and material of the bottom bearing.<br />

15 Material and thickness of blades Range of blade angle and<br />

distance of the point from the centre at which it is to<br />

be measured.<br />

16 Size thickness and material of the down rod offered as<br />

standard.<br />

17 Material of the fan casing.<br />

General <strong>Technical</strong> requirement <strong>For</strong> TE :<br />

1. Type test reports shall be complete and satisfactory as per T/E<br />

specification for each size of the fan and regulator with performance<br />

requirements at the rated voltage and shall be from any Govt. laboratory.<br />

Type Test reports shall be required at the time of registration and<br />

inspection.<br />

Type test report shall indicate clearly & categorically the following<br />

parameters:-<br />

a) Blade angle at root, elevation and at tip<br />

b) Width, thickness and material of the blade.<br />

c) Capacitance value.<br />

d) Material of the body of the fan motor<br />

e) Total weight of the fan motor.<br />

2. Blade thickness without paint shall be as follows:-<br />

Sweep Size Minimum Blade thickness<br />

1200 mm 1.0 mm<br />

1400 mm 1.1 mm<br />

3. The material of the fan blade shall be of designation 31500B with<br />

condition Hx6 Aluminium Alloy Sheet conforming to IS:737/2008.<br />

4. The load bearing bolt shall be of min. 6 mm dia with Aluminium Clamp,<br />

Spring Washer, Nut and Checknut and Split Pin.<br />

5. Down rod shall be of 1.6 mm nominal thick ERW pipe.<br />

6. Shackle made from 2 mm nominal thick CRC sheet and<br />

7. Bolts (2 Nos) shall be 6mm with Spring Washer Nut and Checknut and Split<br />

Pin.<br />

8. Shank shall be made of CRC sheet of thickness 1.6 mm minimum without paint<br />

for all sizes.<br />

NOTE TO QA OFFICERS:<br />

Over and above normal process, following points shall also be kept in view<br />

during inspection:<br />

1. <strong>For</strong> longevity of funtioning with declared power consumption, it is<br />

essential that appropriate category of stampings (magnetic material) are<br />

utilised by manufacturers, as per governing specification of the product.<br />

2. The blade angle should be exactly in consonance with the blade angle of<br />

fan type tested by independent Govt lab.<br />

3. DQA concerned may decide suitably with regard to verification of air<br />

delivery of different sizes of fans on rate contract, once during the<br />

currency of RC, for comparing of data obtained with production lot and type<br />

tested fan, as a validation process.<br />

4. Periodically, chemistry and mechnical property of blades should be<br />

verified by QA officer and DQA may decide the periodicity of same and<br />

assessment methodology.<br />

5. QA officers should stamp each Fan blade of samples drawn for testing.<br />

Remaining blades of the lot will be stamped on cartons of blade packing, at<br />

the time of inspection.<br />

6. Connecting documents pertaining to raw materials shall be furnished by the<br />

firm.<br />

7. QA officer shall record weight of fan motor in the inspection report.
