XPx Expansion Modules
The XTM-105 and XTM-905 extension modules
used with XPx expansion modules combine
intelligent processing power with expanded
Input/Output (I/O). The XTM-105 is intended for
the N2 Bus, and the XTM-905 works on the XT
Bus of the DX controller series. Both support the
XPx expansion modules to provide flexible,
cost-effective point multiplexing and easy
expansion for future retrofits. Light-Emitting Diode
(LED) displays for diagnostics and manual
override switches facilitate equipment startup and
testing, while magnetic or electric latching relays
enable proper restart actions after a power outage.
These modules offer an alternative to hardwiring
many points from a remote location back to the
controller, with the proven control and reliability
typical of the Metasys® family of modular
components.
Note:
The XTM-905 supports a maximum of
four XPx expansion modules.
I ntroduction
The XTM-105 and XTM-905, used with the XPx
expansion modules, are cost-effective devices for
adding control points to the Building Automation
System (BAS). This line of point extension and
expansion modules combines the functions of
signal conditioners, relays, and manual overrides
for controlling building operation. These modules
simplify the selection of point types and provide
greater functionality. The XTM-105 can support
8 Analog Input/Output (AI/AO) points and
32 Binary Input/Output (BI/BO) points, or 40 BI/BO
points. The XTM-905 can support 8 AI/AO points and
8 BI/BO points, or 16 BI/BO points.
Modular Flexibility
The XTM-105 and XTM-905 are designed for use
in a variety of applications. These modules feature:
• Voltage, current, and resistance options:
analog input/output types 0-10V, 0/4-20 mA,
5K ohm potentiometer, and passive
Resistance Temperature Device (RTD)
sensors:
- Nickel (Ni) 1000 Regular (JCI)
- Ni 1000 High Temperature (JCI)
- Platinum (Pt) 1000 (DIN)
- A99 (JCI)
• Binary Output options: magnetic and electric
latching relays for safe and efficient power
restoration. Interlocked and staged relays for
multispeed fan control.
• BI counters for one or two XPx modules
(when no analog modules are installed.
Limited to eight maximum inputs.
• Module designs that conform to DIN
standards, allowing access to indicator lamps
and controls, and providing protection from the
internal wiring when mounted in standard DIN
cabinets. Easy to retrofit existing devices.
• Accumulator function applications support
monitoring of devices that provide pulse
outputs.
Reliable Operation
To reduce the possibility of equipment
malfunctions or damage, the XTM-105 and
XTM-905 include the following features:
• Durable case protects against physical
damage and electrostatic discharge.
• XPx debounce filter helps prevent false
alarms or erroneous counts in accumulator
points.
• Self-checking diagnostics provide reliable
system operation.
• Cyclic redundancy check in all
communication messages increases immunity
to electromagnetic disturbances.
Easy Installation and Maintenance
To make operation of the XTM-105 and XTM-905
more user-friendly, these modules include the
following features:
• Economical way to connect points that are
clustered at a distant location from the NCM
or N30.
• Minimizes the separate hardwiring of each
I/O to the controller.
• Manual override for temporary on-site
adjustments, with LEDs to show point status.
• Fast mounting on DIN rail.
• Windows-based XTM Configurator
software for XTM-105 and GX Tool software
for XTM-905:
- configures I/O module layout and setup
parameters
- indicates if there is a hardware
configuration incompatibility in the XTM
after download
- downloads to nine hardware devices via
direct connection or over the network from
the Operator Workstation (OWS)
• LEDs on the module’s front panel display the
status of each corresponding binary (I/O).
