Dear Madam, dear Sir,
Please find attached a call for candidates for consultant services in the fields mentioned
above, launched by the CEN-CENELEC Management Centre in anticipation of the contract
between CEN and the EC/EFTA in 2013. The contract with the successful candidate will be
signed for aperiod of one year beginning on 2013-01-01 with a possibility of
subsequent renewal. The precise number of working days under the contract will be
confirmed during the selection process.
Applications from all interested parties are welcome. Selection Panels composed of
representatives of the CEN-CENELEC Management Centre, the European Commission
services, the EFTA Secretariat and the Sector Rapporteur or Chairpersons of the relevant
technical bodies will choose the successful candidates.
You are invited to publicise this information nationally, noting that applications should be
sent to the CEN-CENELEC Management Centre at consultants@cencenelec.eu by
2012-10-15. Applications shall inciude a detailed Curriculum Vitae, with an
accompanying cover letter - both in English - highlighting relevant qualifications or

to advise CEN and CENELEC Technical Bodies and their Working Groups on the
coherence of the European Standards developed with the relevant EC
Direetives/Regulations. Candidates are invited to submit their applications in an

Conditions
The consultant shall:
• have a thorough knowledge of the relevant European Union
Directives/Regulations;
• have extensive experience of the theoretical and practical aspects of the
technologies covered by the relevant Direetives/Regulations;
• have experience of the preparation, negotiation and adoption of legislative
rules at national or preferably European Commission level for the fjelds
indicated;
• have detailed knowledge of and experience in the preparation and
finalization of standards in these fields;

• have the status and necessary skills to guide and advise standards writers
on the coherency between the standards in preparation and the provisions
of the relevant standardization mandate(s) and between these standards
and the related Essential Requirements of the relevant
Directive(s)jRegulation (s);
• be impartial;
• co-ordinate with the CEN - CENELEC Management Centre in Brussels and be
willing to travel in Europe;
• have good communication skills, be computer literate and be able to plan
and organize his or her work schedule;
• be anational of a European Union or EFTA Member State;
• have an excellent knowledge of English (written and verbal) and, preferably,
of at least one of the other two official CEN languages (French and German).
It is anticipated that the contract will be for the period 2013-01-01 to 2013-12­
31, and may be renewable, subject to review 1.
Candidates are requested in their applications to make an offer in terms of a daily
remuneration rate (amount per man-day) up to a maximum of EURO 535. The
appointed consultant would also receive a travel budget of maximum EURO 650
per travel.
