As EiS Kent customers we are happy to make the changes on your behalf during July
2013 using a management system called CentraStage. This product will be installed on
servers in your school that EiS support and will we will use it to carry out the changes
without you being involved. CentraStage can then be used for any other changes and to
quickly fix issues in the future.
CentraStage enables EiS to remotely monitor computers on your network for software
and hardware issues and deploy scripts which we would use to make the change on this
occasion. It does not monitor your data, including SIMS. If you agree to the installation
of CentraStage we will enable ‘privacy mode’ so EiS cannot connect to the devices (other
than servers), without your permission. The CentraStage product enables EiS to detect
hardware and software issues, before they become a major problem. In fact, during our
testing of the product, we have already improved our response time to recover a user
device and a server as we could do this remotely, whereas without CentraStage we
would have needed to make a site visit.
If you decide to have CentraStage installed on your school servers, we will always
communicate any proposed changes to you prior to any changes being made and there
will be an opportunity for you to opt out, at any time.
EiS Kent Information Notice 13-E52 June 2013
We will need your permission to install CentraStage onto your school servers. To do
this, we require an email from your school email address, from the person with authority
to provide this permission. Please email us at support@eis.kent.gov.uk with
‘CentraStage Approval’ in the subject title by Friday 28 June 2013.
Upon receipt of your approval, we will contact you in the near future to arrange for
CentraStage to be installed on your curriculum and admin servers, so changes can be
automated from now on.
However, if you do not want CentraStage installed EiS will make the changes manually.
In this instance, please contact the EiS Kent Service Desk to arrange a time for the
Medway DNS Changes to be applied
IMPORTANT - If we do not support your curriculum server you will need to talk to your
third party technician as soon as possible so they can make the change for you.
If you have any queries please contact the EiS Kent Service Desk
